Become a gaming hero this summer at the Game Hero 2010 tournament and bag yourself a cool £1000
Game Hero 2010 will be the exciting climax to Gateshead Digital Summer, the seven weeks of wow organised by Gateshead Council and Codeworks.
The first North East games tournament of its kind, Game Hero 2010 will be offering 64 of the nation's most talented gamers the chance to compete against each other on EA's Official FIFA World Cup 2010 game for a bounty of prizes, with the tournament winner taking home the Grand Prize of a cool £1000!

There will be plenty of fun for those that want to stay off the pitch too, with our Game Hero Expo - a showcase of the country's biggest developers, retailers and publishers. All activities within the Game Hero Expo are free of charge. Gaming enthusiasts can play new and exclusive game releases; have their photo taken with their favourite game characters and grab themselves loads of free giveaways.
You can also climb aboard local independent game retail chain, Grainger Games' eye-catching gaming Hummer, equipped with flat screen monitors, surround sound music system and two games consoles to demo the latest games on. National retailer Game has teamed up with Ubisoft and Just Dance to showcase their specially designed Just Dance Disco Bus complete with dancers, disco balls and sound system. Gamestation have joined forces with Nintendo to offer visitors the chance to play a host of games. North East Games Companies will be giving visitors the chance to play their latest release games on iPads and games consoles, as well as playing games in 3D courtesy of Gateshead College.
The Game Hero Tournament takes place at Exhibition Square, Metro Centre, Gateshead on 10th July 2010, between 10am and 4pm and the peripheral activities will take place between 10am and 5pm.
