Miner Wars space shooter video game details and videos

Miner Wars space shooter video gameKeen Software House release new Miner Wars video, revealing very large but still-destructible asteroids. The video was captured from the actual game and the scene contains two 8-km asteroids, five medium-size asteroids, and 300 mining ships.

“In this footage we tried to show how your mining ship is small compared to the biggest asteroid. Even your base ship is little compared to them. All asteroids are fully destructible,” says Marek Rosa, Game Director of Miner Wars.

“I guess that in a few years we will be able to reach the moon’s size. It is only 400 times bigger than our asteroids. Think about it – a fully destructible moon,” laughs Marek.

New American West Pioneering adventure video game coming to PC

pioneering video gameNew Game Set to Bring the World of the American Frontier to Life on PC. HuntersofKentucky.com is pleased to announce the upcoming release of a new episodic adventure set on the old American West, Pioneering. To be released in September exclusively on PC, Pioneering: Episode One is a first person RPG/Adventure game set on the early American frontier during the period of the American Revolution. Utilizing open world campaigns and multiple routes to completion, Pioneering immerses players in the world of the wildest of Wests, bringing to life one of the most dynamic and complex periods in American history:

“In the mid-1770s, as war broke out between Great Britain and thirteen of its American colonies, settlers of European descent began to surge beyond the Appalachian Mountains, the previous limit of Anglo-American settlement in North America. Settling upon lands which the King of Britain had previously reserved for the Indians in 1763, the settlers helped to spark an Indian War on the frontier which came to dominate life in that region. Enraged by this invasion of their lands, many of the Indian tribes residing in the Ohio Valley allied themselves with the British in order to repel the region of the settlers who moved into the region. Tribes such as the Shawnee, Miami, Wyandot, Cherokee, and Delaware fought a long, protracted campaign against this wave of settlers, fighting as much for their own independence as anything else. For their part, the settlers were also fighting for their freedom – freedom from renting lands and dependence upon others, and in many cases, freedom from the British Crown.”

Pioneering is an RPG set during the American Revolution, in the chaotic world of the early frontier. Players control a settler who has recently arrived on the frontier who must attempt to prosper by achieving a number of life goals - these can be gained by purchasing property, marrying, or completing certain missions. There are three ways to win this game - gain enough life goals, horde a large enough amount of cash, or gain a high enough conscience level. Cash is earned mainly by in the wilderness, whilst life goals are earned through marriage and property ownership. Conscience is affected by conflict, adding an extra dimension to the game that sees players actively engaging with the historical world in which they are partaking.

Episode One of Pioneering is set for release this September exclusively on PC as a digital download with subsequent episodes due throughout 2009 and 2010. Each episode contains a single open world campaign with a number of missions and routes to completion. Over the course of the next few months three episodes are planned for release with more planned in the coming year. A retail release of Pioneering that collects several episodes together to form a complete gaming experience is also being planned for 2010.

Pioneering is an exciting, new historical adventure game with one eye firmly focused upon presenting a gaming experience that does not exaggerate or parody the period on which it is based. TV and film have not been used as inspiration. Rather, historical documents and actual history is the basis of this unique gaming experience.

Football Manager 2010 release date set for October 30th

football manager 2010Football Manager 2010 for PC and Apple Macintosh, and Football Manager Handheld 2010 for Sony PSP will be released on October 30th.

Football Manager 2009 is the most successful in the Football Manager series to date, clocking up 22 weeks at No.1 in the UK (PC charts) and selling in excess of 1 million copies worldwide, as well as being voted the 2nd best video game of all time in a recent Radio 1 poll.

Launch trailer...

According to data gathered from Football Manager 2009, people played the game for an average of 240 hours each. Developer Sports Interactive has spent the last year working closely with consumers and the Football Manager community to implement key improvements to this year’s game. Football Manager 2010 features new tools and changes across the board including some big additions to improve ease of use, navigation and feedback from the game with the introduction of a brand new match tactics system, the debut of a Match Analysis tool, a completely new look and new User Interface among other features.

“We have worked very hard with the Football Manager community to target not only the areas of the game that needed re-working but also what we could add to improve what’s already there. We’ve also conducted extensive usability studies which has led us to overhaul the whole presentation of the game, which we’re really excited about,” said Miles Jacobson, Studio Director at Sports Interactive. “There has been a lot of polish to existing areas of the game but it’s also driven us to introduce changes to answer some of the feedback. We’re extremely confident that having done that we will deliver the very best Football Manager to date in October.”

The introduction of a Tactics Creator makes it easier to instruct the team to play the way the manager wants, alongside the introduction of touchline ‘shouts’ and quick tactic changes for instantly altering your team’s playing style during the match. Working with coaches from various levels of football, alongside some of the Football Manager community’s most respected independent tacticians, the game now has an extensive array of pre-set tactical options allowing the user to select a player’s role in the team (such as ‘Ball winning midfielder’ or ‘Deep lying playmaker’), however the option to use the old ‘slider’ controls remains.

Feedback from matches has been improved to give the user better insight into where their team is going wrong, or right. A new Match Analysis tool lets players see where shots, passes, crosses, headers, tackles, fouls and interceptions have been made on the field for all players on the pitch. Managers can view this analysis both live in-game and post match, allowing them to pinpoint the strengths and weaknesses of both their team and their opponent’s and adjust their tactics accordingly.

Football Manager 2010 features a brand new User Interface, with a light and a dark skin to choose from as part of a vibrant new look and has undergone a complete navigational overhaul. The side bar navigation of previous years has been replaced by an intuitive tab system at the top of the screen, making Football Manager’s famed depth easier to navigate and will make the game more accessible to new players.

A brand new Data Editor will allow the addition of new divisions to existing leagues and of entirely new leagues as well as making it easier than ever to keep the game up to date, and do so for free. The delivery of information to the manager has been refined with users now able to sign up to the News Centre, an in-game subscription based newspaper that lets you get the news that you want about the football world and filter out the stories that you do not need, making the football world as immersive as you want it to be.

Following the debut of a 3D match view in Football Manager 2009, this year’s release sees a revamp with improved AI, over 100 new animations for the 3D pitch view, new stadiums, crowds, realistic pitch degradation and better lighting, creating an even more realistic match experience.

Further new features will be announced via a series of blogs in the months leading up to the game’s October 30th release date which will ensure that Football Manager retains its position as the most realistic, most played, highest reviewed and best selling football management simulation in the world.

Football Manager Handheld 2010 also has a host of new features and improvements, including a brand new skin for the game and improved match engine AI.

2K Sports announced today that rising NBA star, Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls, will be featured as the spokesman for NBA 2K10: Draft Combine, a download-only title that will provide fans with an immersive pre-season basketball experience leading up to the fall launch of NBA 2K10.

Rose, the 2009 T-Mobile NBA Rookie of the Year, has quickly become one of the most electrifying playmakers in the league, and this season NBA 2K10: Draft Combine will tap into Rose’s personal knowledge and experience training for the NBA Draft.

“It’s a great feeling to partner with 2K Sports and represent the greatest basketball franchise on the planet,” said Rose, point guard for the Chicago Bulls. “I look forward to providing my insights of what that first year in the league is really like, and what it takes to stay on top of your game. This season, NBA 2K10: Draft Combine will be a place where fans can experience the life of a player trying to make it to the NBA. The drills are challenging, and the group scrimmages are always extremely competitive with everyone looking to improve their draft stock as well. It’s as real as it gets.”

Rose, who led the University of Memphis to the NCAA Championship game in his freshman year, was selected the top overall pick by his hometown Chicago Bulls in the 2008 NBA Draft after only one college season. This past year, he averaged 16.8 points, 6.3 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game and was selected to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. Additionally, Rose led the Chicago Bulls back to the NBA playoffs, and his 36 points tied Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s NBA record for the most points scored by a rookie in his playoff debut.

“Derrick is the perfect fit to be our spokesman for NBA 2K10: Draft Combine,” said Greg Thomas, senior vice president of sports development for 2K. “Not only is he one of the most dynamic young playmakers in the NBA today, he’s the pride of Chicago, where the real NBA Draft Combine is located. We look forward to working closely with Derrick this season, and are thrilled to offer our fans a brand new pre-season basketball experience with NBA 2K10: Draft Combine.”

In NBA 2K10: Draft Combine, fans will begin their career at the ATTACK Athletics gym in Chicago by building their own custom player and working with a mentor, the 2K Insider, to step up their game through a variety of challenging basketball drills and 5-on-5 games to increase their NBA draft stock. The greater a player excels at a particular drill, or in completing specific game objectives, the more valuable skill points they will receive which can be used to improve one of over 30 key player attributes. Fans can then take their custom built players in NBA 2K10: Draft Combine and use them in the all-new My Player career mode in NBA 2K10 launching this fall, allowing them to continue their journey toward becoming an NBA legend.

Nintendo Wii to play download content from SD cards with update 4.0

The Nintendo Wii system update 4.0, will allow downloaded WiiWare and Virtual Console games to be read off an SD card, plus Nintendo are now allowing this feature to be used by full retail games. Guitar Hero 5 will be the first retail game to take advantage of being able to stream in-game date from an SD memory card.

This enables players of Guitar Hero 5 to be able to download content and store them on an SD card and play the songs from that SD memory card. It also avoiding having to shuffle the data from SD card to the Nintendo Wii's internal memory every time you want to play a different song, but don't have enough room in the Nintendo Wii's internal storage to keep all your downloaded songs.

Guitar Hero 5 will be the Nintendo Wii's first Guitar Hero game to accommodate all types of DLC for it. The previous versions of Guitar Hero on Nintendo Wii required every separate song to be downloaded on it's own, with Guitar Hero 5 being able to read from SD cards, users can now download the full album.

There isn't any news on what other games and publications will take advantage of this feature, but it is hoped that it will be used well by other companies and Nintendo Wii users can enjoy even more DLC.

Retro clothes launched for your Xbox 360 avatar - Kotaku talks to the designer

xbox avatar clothes showXbox gamers can dress as a BioShock Big Daddy or a Halo trooper if they sample the new virtual world fashions launching today. Or they could dress like they're from the Great Depression. The line's designer explains why.

We dress in mere costumes when we control characters in our Xbox 360s. Michael Connell believes it's time for us to wear fashion — some of which came from poorer times.

Connell is the Microsoft-contracted designer behind two original fashion lines, offered, for pay, as part of the new Xbox 360 system update that goes live today. The freelance creative director whose professional experience includes modeling, designing Barbie-branded fashion and a stint as the design director of the Cranium line of games, has crafted clothing for the bodies of virtual men and women, to be worn by Xbox 360 Avatars.

100 friend Xbox Live limit blamed on Halo 2 support - No easy fix

halo 2 on xbox screenshotThe 100-friend limit on Xbox Live is being blamed on users still playing Halo 2 on the original Xbox.

The Xbox Live online service, launched on the original Xbox, was designed to handle no more than 100 friends. More friends would not be a problem for the more robust service powering the Xbox 360, the continued popularity for Halo 2 demands continued legacy support for the original Live architecture, according to “a high-level Microsoft source” talking to website G4.

It’s not an issue that can be solved with a patch, “or else Microsoft would have released one ages ago.” Ending the friend limit means ending support for Halo 2.

Microsoft hasn’t stated when it will disable the original Xbox Live, but in the meantime Halo 2 will enjoy its top spot on the original Xbox usage charts.
