Top female eSport champions what they play and what they earn

The top women focused their gaming skills primarily on the games Counter-Strike, Dead or Alive, Street Fighter, Starcraft and Halo.


The top earners among them were as follows:

  • Sacha Hostyn – The world’s foremost female Starcraft II player, Hostyn goes by the username “Scarlett”. She’s only 23 years old and has already won $197,172 on the game.
  • Katherine Gunn – Gunn, known as “Mystik”, players on a number of games, but with a focus on Halo: Reach. She’s part of Team EnVyUs, and has won $122,000 since she started playing. Notably, she’s the only woman in the top 11 who’s earnt more than a male Halo player of the same experience – Jason Brown, who’s earnt $45,200.
  • Ricki Ortiz – Ortiz plays for the major esports team Evil Geniuses, being a Street Fighter She says she hates playing online due to the lag, but has still managed to win $80,530 just on offline matches.
  • Marjorie Bartell – Marjorie “Kasumi Chan” Bartell isn’t just a Dead or Alive 4 She’s also a software developer for a financial services company (in her free time). She’s won $55,000 from her games.
  • Sarah Harrison – Like Bartell, British esports player Harrison, under the name “Sarah Lou”, has made her mark on fighting game Dead or Alive 4, where she’s won $50,000. Her older sister Ruth is also in the Dead or Alive esports scene.
  • Zainab Turkie - Zainab "zAAz" Turke from Sweden is a Swedish CS:GO player, formely a Counter-Strike 1.6 player. Now playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive She has earned $25,469.

6 million PS4 sold over Christmas and 56 million games...

  • PS4 has sold more than 5.9 million units during the 2017 Christmas season.
  • PS4 has now cumulatively sold through more than 73.6 million unitsworldwide.
  • More than 55.9 million PS4 games were sold during Christmas 2017 in retail stores worldwide and through digital downloads on PlayStation Store. 
  • Up to 645 million copies cumulatively sold as of December 31, 2017.
