Survive a Medieval Scotland - Clanfolk game gets a major update

Clanfolk, the medieval Scottish colony sim inspired by Rimworld, has delivered its largest ever demo update in preparation for its Early Access launch this Spring. Its developer, MinMax Games, offers players fully revamped character graphics, the opportunity to meet neighbouring Clans, craft clothing, use new construction tools, build a custom 'Claner' and try fresh items to create the perfect Scottish homestead.

A key addition to Clanfolk’s latest update are fresh map creation tools. With each procedurally generated map, players can now spend points to change the percentage of mountains, lakes, forests, grassland, and wildlife. Points will need to be balanced, which will lead to some sliders being higher than others. A further feature is custom clan creation, that provides pre-set family tree scenarios and the opportunity to create one from the ground up, with each member having their own unique abilities that will develop over time.

Over the course of its Early Access year Paranoid Interactive’s debut title, Frozenheim, gained much popularity with Steam players. As it developed from a small, 3-people project to a fully-fledged, multi-faceted strategy epic, the game sold nearly 200 000 copies. Following the Early Access launch under the indie publishing label, Hyperstrange, the development team grew four times in size to be able to meet the expectations of the game’s fast-growing community.

The eighth and final Early Access update, moving the game up to version 0.9, adds a third story campaign. Its four missions focus their narrative around Thorstein, the hero of the Bear Clan, and make up for the total of sixteen scenarios available in the game. The multi-player segment receives its long-awaited matchmaking feature, and siege weapons make their way into the north land battlefields.
