Due to overwhelming fan response, NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc., today revealed that Sith Lord Darth Vader and Jedi Master Yoda will be downloadable characters for Soulcalibur IV on Thursday, October 23 from Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PLAYSTATION Network for the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system. Reebok uses partnership to launch Football Ambassador Programme to thousands of gamers worldwide

Reebok announces its partnership with IGA Worldwide, the leading provider of in-game advertising, to become an integrated partner for the forthcoming free-to-download online game, Football Superstars. Created by UK based company CyberSports, Football Superstars is the first MMOG (massively multi player online game) of its kind, recreating a 3D virtual football world that enables thousands of human players to compete alongside, as well as against one another online. Experiencing all the luxury trappings that come with being a top-flight footballer.

To add to the games virtual football experience, Reebok will use the platform to launch its Ambassador Programme, a global search offering amateur players across the world the chance to win a sponsorship deal with Reebok and join its stable of footballers such as Thierry Henry, Ryan Giggs and Iker Casillas and win a professional-style boot deal. Successful entrants will be transported into the world of the professional footballer, winning a supply of Reebok boots and kit (in and outside of the game), in game currency, custom apparel for their avatars, as well as the chance to interview Barcelona and France striker Thierry Henry, as part of the Reebok Ambassador Programme.

In Football Superstars - developed by Nottingham based Monumental Games – players re-create themselves online as a footballer and then have free reign in the state of the art interactive virtual world. Away from the pitch players can socialise in restaurants, bars and clubs and visit shops where you can buy the latest equipment and designer clothes. Players can train in gyms and on training pitches to enhance their skills or flirt with the paparazzi in a bid to boost their fame and status and gain access to the most exclusive clubs and venues.

Console sales plummet in Japan with PS3 suffering most

Sales of video games consoles have dropped dramatically in Japan with Sony's PlayStation 3 suffering most.

Sale for October 12 week dropped almost 1500 units from 7232 to 5734 units sold.

Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2 sales have done better with the Nintendo DS selling 31914 units to take top slot. The Nintendo Wii was the best selling console with 22877 Wii's sold.

Little Big Planet video game release delayed in Europe

Sony's PlayStation 3 LittleBigPlanet video game's world release has been delayed.

A problem with the soundtrack (references to the Qu'ran) have caused the delay.

With the increasing use of licensed music in video games this problem hasn't come to light until the game was released for review. One of the music tracks used in the game contains two references to the Qu'ran that may cause offense.

The game has been shipped to retailers and will have to be recalled. The original launch date of October 24 will now become November 14th (estimate).

Sony have put a lot of money behind the game launch with PS3 bundles and maximum publicity.
