BBC Worldwide Digital Entertainment & Games brings the legendary social world of Jane Austen’s Regency period to the 21st century’s Facebook society with the launch of Jane Austen: Rogues & Romance.
In the new, hidden-object social game, players find that Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy have escaped from the pages of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. In a fantastical romp through Austen’s six novels, players must find the newly married couple and convince them back into Austen’s most popular book. Along the way, players find their place in early 19th century society and create an Austen-inspired manor.
Robert Nashak, EVP Digital Entertainment & Games, BBC Worldwide said, “Jane Austen: Rogues & Romance puts an updated social spin on the wit and romance of Austen’s most famous novels. Her stories are about relationships and the complications that arise from social class, so it’s a natural fit to let players explore them on Facebook, and claim their own place in Regency society.”
Developed by BBC Worldwide Digital Entertainment & Games and Legacy Games, players will discover the fascinating world of Jane Austen’s literary creativity through more than 20 hidden-object and find-the-difference games. Players can send valuable gifts to friends to increase their social standings, or challenge them to a dual of wits to find as many Regency-period items as possible in a series of fast-paced hidden-object challenges.
Ariella Lehrer, CEO of Legacy Games said, “Developing this game was a labor of love for us. We are so proud to bring this game to the thriving Janeite fan community, and hope that Rogues and Romance will introduce new audiences to Austen's timeless characters and wit through engaging game play and stories.”
Jane Austen: Rogues & Romance is part of the BBC Worldwide Digital Entertainment & Games and 6waves publishing partnership. The venture aims to bring a multitude of new, interactive games to Facebook through the 6waves publishing platform.
