Shares in Nintendo soared on news the gaming giant have announced plans to launch a 3D gaming device.
The new console nicknamed Nintendo 3DS will be part of the Nintendo DS range of handheld consoles. This will allow the device to be backward compatible with DS and DSi video games.
No pricing or specification for the new device has been announced but the company did say that no glasses would be needed to play the device. More details will be revealed at the E3 event in June in LA.
