HAWX video game delayed to 2009 Tom Clancy will not be pleased!

HAWX tom clancy
Originally planned for release before the end of 2008, then pushed into the first quarter of 2009, it now turns out that Tom Clancy's HAWX - Ubisoft's forthcoming flight combat game - won't see release until sometime after April of next year, reports Eurogamer.
This latest slip was revealed on Ubisoft's most recent release schedule, with no explanation for the delay given. It's curious to see HAWX -- first announced back in April of this year -- continue to slip, as it seemed to be shaping up nicely so far.
As Eurogamer notes, one possible culprit could be that the game's multiplayer needed more tweaking, as HAWX will have ambitious features like four-on-four dogfights as well as jump-in-jump-out co-op throughout the entire campaign. Now if only Ubisoft would change the silly title before release. In case you already forgot, it stands for "High Altitude Warfare eXperimental squadron," which is one of those delightfully strained creations that exists for the sole purpose of having the flight-themed acronym "HAWX."

Download Fallout 3 content Creation Kit comes first

fallout 3 video game
Editor to be Available in December; Downloadable Content coming for January, February, and March

Plans to make both its editor and downloadable content available for its award-winning game, Fallout 3 in the coming weeks. The official editor for Fallout 3, called the G.E.C.K. (Garden of Eden Creation Kit), will be available for free download in December and will allow Games for Windows users to create and add their own content to the game. In addition, the first official downloadable content, Operation: Anchorage, will be available exclusively for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Games for Windows in January, and more downloadable content coming in February and March.
“We’ve always seen the original world of Fallout 3 as a foundation for even more content. Some created by us, and a lot more created by users,” said Todd Howard, game director for Fallout 3. “It’s fun to create your own character, but it can be equally fun to create your own adventures. We can’t wait to see what the community does with the G.E.C.K.”
The release of the G.E.C.K. provides the community with tools that will allow players to expand the game any way they wish. Users can create, modify, and edit any data for use with Fallout 3, from building landscapes, towns, and locations to writing dialogue, creating characters, weapons, creatures, and more.

fallout 3

Three downloadable content packs will be coming to Xbox 360 and Games for Windows Live starting in January that will add new quests, items, and content to Fallout 3.
• Operation: Anchorage. Enter a military simulation and fight in one of the greatest battles of the Fallout universe – the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from its Chinese Communist invaders. An action-packed battle scheduled for release in January.

• The Pitt. Journey to the industrial raider town called The Pitt, located in the remains of Pittsburgh. Choose your side. Scheduled for release in February.

• Broken Steel. Join the ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel and rid the Capital Wasteland of the Enclave remnants once and for all. Continues the adventure past the main quest. Scheduled for release in March.

Released on October 28 in North America and in Europe October 30, Fallout 3 has been hailed as one of the most anticipated games of 2008, and received a 10 out of 10 review score from Official Xbox Magazine, a result then repeated around the world with perfect scores by some of the industry’s most influential and respected critics including: Gamespy, GamePro, UGO, the Associated Press, MSN, The Washington Post, Guardian, FHM, G4-TV, The Toronto Star, and Eurogamer. MSNBC’s review offered the observation that it viewed “Fallout as a no-brainer for game of the year.” The Daily Star in the UK echoed that conclusion, saying “You can hold all bets on game of the year – I think we have a winner.”

Fallout 3 features one of the most realized game worlds ever created. Set more than 200 years following a nuclear war, you can create any kind of character you want and explore the open wastes of Washington, D.C. however you choose. Every minute is a fight for survival as you encounter Super Mutants, Ghouls, Raiders, and other dangers of the Wasteland.

Priceless EyeToy and Rock Band prototypes donated to the National Videogame Archive

The UK's first official National Videogame Archive (NVA) has received its first donations of historic videogaming peripherals from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) and Harmonix at this year's GameCity festival in Nottingham, UK. SCEE has given the NVA the very first EyeToy camera prototype and leading music game studio Harmonix has given a prototype drum kit and guitar from Rock Band.

The priceless pieces of equipment are all the more important as they represent particular innovations and revolutionary styles of videogaming – the EyeToy being arguably the first peripheral to create a new interface for videogame control via the camera; and Rock Band which has taken the music gaming phenomenon to greater heights.
"The amazing work that SCEE and Harmonix have both done to broaden audiences for videogaming make it especially appropriate that they should kick-off the NVA. Their work, perhaps more than any other developers has been not just about making great games - but pushing the boundaries of what games could be. We're incredibly excited that they have chosen to make these donations to the NVA", commented Iain Simons, Director of GameCity at Nottingham Trent University. "We are excited about the National Videogame Archive and are proud to be a part of it," said Mike Haigh, Development Director at Sony's London Studio. "We felt the first EyeToy camera prototype was the perfect donation choice because it represents not only a ground-breaking game interface, but a moment in gaming history when a whole new audience began to play video games for the first time. We hope it inspires other developers to explore new ways of opening up video games to everyone.
Sean Baptiste, Manager of Community Development at Harmonix Music added, "Harmonix recognizes how important it is to document and preserve the history of this rapidly evolving industry. We're honored to be a donor to the National Videogame Archive and hope other companies will follow suit."

Visit www.savethevideogame.org to watch video clips of the SCEE and Harmonix donations.

New PlayStation may come with free games and free Blu-ray HD movie

free playstation 3 games bundle

Sony has the burden of being the highest-priced console on retail shelves at the moment.

New PS3s may come complete with Free Games, Free PlayStation 3 games may be on the hard disk or the free games may be downloaded from PlayStation network we'll have to wait and see.

Both Microsoft and Nintendo are coming in under $300, while the PS3 is $400 for a new system.

People are buying games and systems, but it's clear that price is important: Sony has to find a way to increase perceived value while not taking a bath on selling the systems at a loss. Which means bundles!

Kotaku has a picture of what appears to be a new PlayStation 3 bundle, and it's pretty nice. For $399.99 you get:

* An 80GB PS3 system
* Free game Ratchet and Clank - Tools of Destruction
* Free Casino Royale on Blu-ray High Definition DVD

This bundle is supposed to go on sale on November 28, and it's unclear whether other retailers will get these bundles or if this is a Best Buy exclusive. If you've been waiting for an excuse to finally pick up a PS3, this isn't a bad one: the game is fun, the movie is a good showpiece for Blu-ray, and they're both effectively free.

While a price drop would still be more preferable, we'll take what we can get.
