Raiden Fighter Aces now on Xbox 360, thanks to Valcon Games

Valcon Games brings to the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft the classic shooter – Raiden Fighter Aces. All three extremely popular coin-op Raiden Fighter games can now be found on one disc in this faithfully recreated ultimate collection. The game began shipping in North America this week, and will be selling for a suggested retail price of $19.99.

“Arcade fans of this classic game will be thrilled that they can get the same arcade experience without leaving the house,” said Glenn Halseth, co-founder of Valcon Games. “We included all the original gameplay of the original games, plus added enhanced features to accommodate next-generation gamers.”

In addition to the nonstop action, Valcon Games has added new features, such as a new training mode that lets players modify every aspect of their ships and wingmen; skip to any level; or play in slow motion. Comprehensive screen and control settings let gamers play each game full-screen as a side-scroller, or even vertically on a rotated 4:3 display.

Players also don’t have to dogfight alone. Now, two players can play co-op games offline, or choose to play as a lone-wolf in Arcade Mode, posting high-scores and gameclips to Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network.

TibiaME Magic Spring Update for Mobile MMORPG released

CipSoft announced the release of its spring update for TibiaME, the first MMORPG for mobile phones worldwide.

The biggest change in this update has been made to the magic system of TibiaME. Although magic has already been a big part of the medieval fantasy world, a completely new spell system has been introduced. From now on, magicians can use their magic potential to their full extend by casting numerous powerful spells like “meltdown” or “souleater”.

“A fully elaborated and sophisticated spell system has been on our list for quite some time now” says Benjamin Zuckerer, Product Manager for TibiaME at CipSoft. “However, the introduction of such a feature has a major influence on the game balance and must be considered very carefully” Zuckerer explains. “However, already the first tests during the BETA have shown that battles got much more challenging and therefore way more interesting for our players”

In addition to the spell system new content like the jungle island has been added to the map of TibiaME.

Epic Games Reveals Plans for E3 2009

Epic Games, Inc., invites interested parties to visit its meeting suite (South Hall #302, Los Angeles Convention Center) next month at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) where the newest Unreal Engine 3 features for PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 will be demonstrated in closed door presentations for its prospective customers, evaluators, licensees, and members of its Integrated Partners Program. Epic Games staff will also be on hand to answer questions for licensees and those who are thinking about licensing the engine.

Epic Games recently unveiled a number of new tools and systems for Unreal Engine 3 at the 2009 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Calif. Unreal Lightmass, a new global illumination solver, produces high-quality static lighting with next-generation effects. Lightmass leverages Epic’s new Unreal Swarm distributed computing framework, which enables lighting to be generated up to 10 times faster than before. The new Unreal Content Browser enables designers to quickly locate game assets with thumbnail previews, tag content with metadata, and easily manage asset collections. In addition, the Unreal Master Control Program (MCP) is a scalable statistics and data management back end that supports announcements, settings management, online population tracking, and data collection for hardware, profile, and game stats. Unreal MCP includes a set of tools for visualizing gameplay, and can be used for online and offline game components during development and after shipping a game. All of the new engine features are bundled with Unreal Engine 3 at no additional cost to licensees.

Radio 1's and 1Xtra's Big Gaming Weekend

Over the Bank Holiday Weekend (22-25 May), BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra will be taken over by the wonderful world of computer games. The weekend will be jam packed with gaming themed content from reviews, to soundtracks, DJ leaderboards and a poll to find the best game ever.

Whether you're into collecting gold coins, eating blue ghosts, performing unearthly fighting combos, fitting shapes together against the clock or multiplaying with distant friends there will be something for all gamers.

The highlight of the weekend will be BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra hosting an online poll to find the greatest ever computer game. A panel of industry experts will compile a list of their top 100 games and then listeners will be invited to choose their top three from the list.

Scott Mills will launch the poll on Friday 22 May between 6.30am and 10am and the results will be revealed on Bank Holiday Monday during Mistajam's show which is simulcast on BBC Radio 1& 1Xtra between 7pm and 10pm.

Over the weekend the legendary Live Lounge will be turned into a gaming arcade where Radio 1 and 1Xtra DJ's will battle it out in the gaming leaderboards and listeners can follow online.

Throughout the day on Bank Holiday Monday, starting in Scott's show there will be the chance to listen to the best tunes from gaming soundtracks - chosen by both listeners and the DJ's. Jo Whiley will be joined by computer games expert- Johnny Minkley. At 1pm, Fearne Cotton and The Surgery presenter Aled Hayden-Jones host a special 'gaming' Surgery. Greg James will continue with the gaming soundtracks between 4pm and 7pm and then hand over to Mistajam's simulcast for the big countdown of BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra's poll of the greatest ever computer games.
