Tony Hawk Ride video game exclusive Xbox 360 in the UK
Activision has revealed that Tony Hawk: RIDE will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 in the UK.
The game was revealed late last week for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii, but Microsoft has seemingly grabbed the highly-anticipated title for itself in the region.
"Further to Monday's announcement regarding Tony Hawk: RIDE, Activision UK is pleased to announce that this title will be launched later this year in the UK, as an Xbox 360 platform exclusive," said the company.
The game is a reinvention of one of Activision's biggest franchises, and will ship complete with a skateboard peripheral when it's released later this year.
The exclusivity deal will be a seen as a blow to Sony's PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's Wii during the busy Christmas period, although Activision has not detailed whether the title will be released on other formats at a later date.
The title is due to be demoed at E3 in June.

This fall players will be able to experience skateboarding like never before in Tony Hawk: RIDE from Activision. For the first time, players will have the ability to physically play the game using an innovative motion sensing skateboard controller, allowing for unprecedented freedom and movement.
Tony Hawk: RIDE focuses on innovation and fun, bringing the No1 best-selling action-sports franchise to the forefront with cutting-edge technology for the hardcore fans and accessibility for the mass audience.
"Tony Hawk: RIDE is a massive step forward for the franchise and the gaming industry as a whole," said Rob Kostich, head of marketing, global brand management, Activision Publishing, Inc. "The skateboard controller will redefine sports games by offering players a true skateboarding experience, hands-free, playing with friends and family at home or online in a variety of different locations."
"This is the game I've always wanted to make," said Tony Hawk, who has been directly involved with development of the project. "Playing on the board is unlike any other game, and I'm excited for everyone to have the chance to feel what it's really like to experience the true feeling of skateboarding."
Tony Hawk: RIDE features a wireless skateboard controller designed in conjunction with the game to offer a dynamic gaming experience built from the ground up. Tony Hawk: RIDE is in development by Robomodo for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system. Buzz Monkey is developing the WiiTM system version. The game is not yet rated by the ESRB and is scheduled for release later this year.

Tony Hawk video game with Skateboard say Activision
Activision is expected to ship a skateboard peripheral alongside the next Tony Hawk titles, due for release in 2009.
That's according to analyst Doug Creutz of Cowan and Company, who believes the addition of new products will help the series improve sales after a year away from the market.
"We believe that the extra year of development time and the opportunity for consumers to shake off franchise fatigue could contribute to better unit sales than the franchise has enjoyed in recent years," wrote Creutz in his latest note to investors.
"We also view it as highly likely that the game will include some sort of skateboard peripheral with all SKUs when it ships, given the massive success (and higher price points and profitability) of Activision Blizzard's Guitar Hero franchise."Peripherals have enjoyed a resurgence in recent years, with the high price of games such as Guitar Hero, Rock Band and Wii Fit seemingly no problem for consumers looking for pick-up-and-play gaming experiences.

THE ART OF SKATEBOARDING
Activision Unveils Skate Photo Exhibition For Launch of Tony Hawk's Proving Ground
In celebration of the launch of Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground, the latest instalment in the #1 best-selling action sports video game franchise, Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) is hosting The Art of Skateboarding photo exhibition at The Second Space Gallery – www.secondspacegallery.com – from Monday, October 29 through Friday, November 2. Featuring photographs by Tony Taglianetti, fashion photographer and skateboarder, the exhibition tells the amazing stories of London skateboarders and their favourite tricks, which were shot at some of the capital’s most popular skateboarding destinations, including the Westway, South Bank and Stockwell.
The photography will focus on the different kinds of skateboarding personalities, also found in Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground, including contest-winning athletes, fast and furious hardcore skaters and maverick riggers, who modify their environment into their own personal skate park.
“Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground lets players choose their own path as a skater, so that they can tell the world who they are,” commented Gary Sims, Brand Manager, Activision. “This art exhibition will take that concept and bring it to life outside of the game, allowing skaters to tell their own story for the first time. It’s not often that games and art come together in any meaningful way, so we’re particularly excited about this project.”
The exhibit will open at The Second Space Gallery – www.secondpacegallery.com, which is located at 117 Redchurch Street, London, E2, on October 29. A private VIP reception will be held on the evening of Thursday 1st November, dedicated to press, retail and the skateboarders featured in the exhibition.
Set in the streets of Baltimore, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground is the largest, deepest and most customisable Tony Hawk game yet and gives players the freedom to define their character, story and style based on the choices they make, the paths they select and the style of skateboarding they want.
Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground will be available on November 2nd for Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system, PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, Wii home video game system, Nintendo DS and will be available to play at The Art of Skateboarding throughout the exhibition week.
