Experience Playoff Hockey with the release of exclusive NHL 10 demo on Xbox Live - with video
The EA SPORTS NHL franchise begins a new era with gamezplay innovations that deliver a new standard of toughness and the emotion of playoff hockey on the ice and in the arena, with the launch today of its NHL 10 demo exclusively on Xbox Live Marketplace for Gold subscribers.
NHL 10, the franchise that has won 19 sports game of the year awards over the past two years, will showcase two new game modes in the demo that launches today: Battle for the Cup and Be A Tough Guy. Experience the emotion and drama of the third period of Game 7 of the Stanley Cup™ Championship between Detroit and Pittsburgh in Battle for the Cup. The new mode features playable injuries, the ability to intimidate the opposing team, and line-matching to shut down superstars all in front of frenzied towel waving crowds with storylines that carry across the entire series. Play as your favourite team’s enforcer in Be A Tough Guy, where it is your job to protect your superstars, fight when needed, and finish all checks. The enhanced Be a Pro mode also includes a prospects game before heading to the draft and watching your name appear on the NHL draft board.
Beginning today the NHL 10 demo on Xbox 360 will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace to XBOX LIVE Gold members. On August 27th it will be available to download for XBOX LIVE Silver members and for the PLAYSTATION3 at the PLAYSTATION Store.
NHL 10 features a new first-person fighting engine that enables players to trade punches with an NHL tough guy. Feel what it’s like to be on the ice in the skates of an NHL player to throw and dodge punches. Plus, winning one-on-one battles for possession of the puck along the boards becomes a test of will and skill utilizing an all-new board physics engine. Players can use their body to shield the puck on the boards and then kick-pass it to teammates. Bigger, stronger players pin opponents to the boards while fanatical fans bang on the glass, just like real life. Master the techniques of both these game-changing features with tutorials, available on the demo.
NHL 10 features more than 200 gameplay refinements that replicate the skill and finesse of hockey and deliver the most responsive and authentic action ever for the series. Players can one-time loose pucks, score from their knees, knock pucks out of the air and lift a leg to fake a shot on goal. A new 360° precision passing mechanic delivers control over the speed and direction of passes so players can bank passes off the boards or play the puck into space for teammates to skate on to it.
For more info please visit www.easports.com. Screenshots of the NHL 10 are available at www.easports.co.uk/press.
NHL 10 will be available in stores this September 18 for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system. It is developed under the EA SPORTS brand by EA Canada in Burnaby, B.C. and is rated “PEGI 16+”.

Electronic Arts announce that starting July 9 gamers can download and compete in Skate 2’s Maloof Money Cup Pack, based on the largest pursed event in the history of professional skateboarding. The pack will be available in the PLAYSTATION Store for $3.00 and on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 240 points in North America.

Skate 2’s Maloof Money Cup Pack will feature separate gameplay events both online and offline – freeskate, single player vert and street contests that put gamers against world class pros, and an online mode in which gamers will be able to compete against their friends in new activities and challenges for bragging rights. Xbox 360 gamers get an added bonus as there are 250 achievement points up for grabs.
The Maloof Money Cup presented by etnies and Monster Energy boasts the largest purse in the history of professional skateboarding with nearly $450,000 in cash and prizes. The three-day competition and festival takes place July 10-12, 2009 at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, Calif., during the opening weekend of the OC Fair. All attendees can ride the virtual course for themselves in the Skate 2 booth, located near the front of the festival, where the Maloof Money Cup Pack will be available for playing.
Skate 2 ups the ante in delivering all the grit, creativity, and culture of skateboarding with all-new tricks that allow players to skate it their way – both on and off the board. Gamers can create their own epic skate spots which can then be shared and experienced by others around the world. The game also features a revamped Thrasher Hall of Meat mode that will have players spending countless hours pulling off bone-crushing wipeouts and bails.
Skate 2 is developed by Black Box, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio in Burnaby, British Columbia. The game is rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB and 16+ by PEGI.

Overlord II playable demo now available from Xbox LIVE
Prepare to take control of a Yeti-hunting, seal-clubbing, wolf-riding team of Minions and create chaos, as Codemasters today announced that the Overlord II playable demo is now available from Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft [UK demo].
Ensuring that all future megalomaniacs will be able to take the Minion horde for a test drive ahead the full game's launch on June 26th†, playable demos for the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system and PC versions are scheduled to follow in the next week. Gamers can also preview the game's tyrannical treats in the '10 Reasons Why it's Cool to be Evil' video, now playing at www.OverlordGame.com
In the Overlord II demo, players step into the big spiky boots of a new Overlord whose sights are firmly set on becoming the king of chaos, the bringer of evil and the master of Minions. As the demo opens the Overlord, aided and abetted by a team of brown fighter Minions, emerges from his underground lair into the ice caves only to discover a Yeti frozen in a block of ice. The Minions can, in their inimitably violent way, 'defrost' him and then give chase as he knuckles out into the snowy wastes of the Hunting Grounds, near the town of Nordberg.
Then it's time to put the Minions to work, harvesting valuable life-force from the indigenous fauna. Minions will happily lock onto anything in the vicinity - including fluffy seal pups ('Well,' argue the Minions, 'the smelly furballs are eating all the lovely fishies'). There are also Nordburgian Hunters and hippy, peace-loving elves to contend with but, as ever, the Minions aren't fussy who they attack for their master.
To speed their progress, Minions can befriend a pack of wolves and ride them through the snowy landscape like a Minion Cavalry. The wolf-mounted Minion is an altogether tougher force and more deadly - wolves have their own attack moves and will knock enemies off their feet through sheer force, biting and goring opponents into submission.
Discover why being evil has never been so much fun with the Overlord II playable demo, now available from Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
