This free-to-play hex-based strategy title combines card collecting and PvP action wrapped in a weird and wonderful world of fears. Over 120 phobias have been reborn as delightfully terrifying creatures known as Phobies by the Smoking Gun Interactive team, which include strategy game veterans from the legendary Company of Heroes series amongst their ranks.
Having soft-launched to success in Indonesia and Philippines marks the start of the global invasion of Phobies onto Steam, Google Play, and the Apple App Store. Each creature has been inspired by some of the deepest, darkest, and even downright irrational fears that humans have. From mechanical monkeys to killer clowns, players have a wide selection of Phobies to collect and command. Understanding each one, its strengths, and its weaknesses is key to succeeding on the hex-based battlefield that is home to Phobies nuanced tactical gameplay.
Players can duel it out in real-time in the Arena Battle Mode or over more extended periods through the Async Battle Mode. There’s also the single-player mode that offers a variety of different gameplay scenarios that both introduce newcomers to Phobies as well as challenging more seasoned strategists. Whichever game mode is chosen, victory conditions remain the same - destroy all enemy Phobies on the battlefield or fill the enemy’s Heart with anxiety.
