Vivendi's recent share acquisition could be a first move in an attempt to take control of Ubisoft.
Vivendi have already said they will "aggressively pursuing companies within the entertainment sector." Last week the company purchased €140.3 worth of Ubisoft stock (6.6%) of the business. Ubisoft described the purchase as "unsolicited and unwelcome".
After 30 years of independence Ubisoft still want to stay independent (like gamezplay) they vow to "fight to preserve our independence. We should not let this situation - nor any future actions by Vivendi or others - distract us from our goals."
Let's not forget that Vivendi once had control of Activision-Blizzard, before a Bobby Kotick-led consortium staged a successful bid for independence.
