Europe’s finest Pokémon video game and Trading Card Game players will travel to Washington, DC, this August. This past weekend saw a host of hopeful champions demonstrating their finest battling skills and strategy, with the victors winning invitations and Travel Awards to the 2014 Pokémon Video World Championships, taking place August 16–17 in America’s capital.

Event City in Manchester was the battlefield for the 2014 Pokémon UK National Championships, with competitors battling in three age divisions—Junior, Senior, and Masters. Video game competitors battled using the latest Pokémon video games, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, while Pokémon TCG players built decks using cards across multiple Pokémon TCG expansions.
The crowned winners now have the opportunity to battle against some of the best Pokémon video game and Trading Card Game players from more than 30 countries around the world, including competitors from North America, South America, Australia, Africa, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, and across Europe.
