Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six's Tom Clancy dies age 66



The former insurance broker died in a Baltimore hospital near his Maryland home, according to reports.

A cause of death has not yet been revealed.

In the 1990s he founded Red Storm Entertainment, later bought by Ubisoft, which developed games based on Clancy's ideas

Clancy penned a series of spy and military thrillers and several of his books featured CIA analyst Jack Ryan.

The author's works included The Hunt For Red October, Patriot Games, Clear And Present Danger and The Sum Of All Fears, which were all made into successful Hollywood films.
