Revolutionary new videogames show ‘Thank You For Playing’

Explosive Alan Productions is thrilled to announce that the pilot episode for its innovative videogames show Thank You For Playing is now available for all to view at http://www.thank-you-for-playing.com.

Formerly known as ‘Project Possum’, the independently funded production was part-financed by an incredibly successful campaign on crowdfunding site Indiegogo. (http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/project-possum)

Thank You For Playing (TYFP) was initially envisioned as an attempt to devise the kind of mature, high-quality gaming show that TV has lacked for years, but rapidly evolved into something a traditional format wouldn’t allow for. Without wishing to paraphrase the immortal line from The Matrix, the easiest way to understand it is to head to the site right now and see it for yourself.

Powered by the proprietary ARBITER Engine and intended for full-screen viewing, it utilises a bespoke video player to present the show in a game-like environment, giving the viewer the freedom to watch the show in the order they choose. Each episode is presented as a unique, themed ‘World’, with the features that constitute the episode represented by selectable objects within that world. In keeping with the game-like presentation, progress is rewarded with ‘Unlocks’ – while watching features, viewers will open up over 15 additional pieces of related bonus materials, including articles, videos, audio, images, downloads and even a game.

With each episode providing several hours’ worth of entertainment, visitors can register in order to save their progress, allowing them to enjoy the wealth of material on offer at their own pace.

All efforts have been made to ensure that the show’s contents lives up to its unique presentation, with an emphasis on high production values, diverse subject matter, mixed media (live-action, animation and machinima all feature) and witty, intelligent scripts that value accessibility without resorting to condescension.

As complete as the experience is, TYFP is still in the pilot stage, and will require additional investment if it is to continue and develop as a series. The nature of its presentation also presents unique opportunities for advertisers and sponsors.
