In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, NYC-based Muse Games is stepping up to help their neighbors in need. After launching their game Guns of Icarus Online (www.gunsoficarus.com) right in the middle of the hurricane on October 29, with the whole team working from home to support the game despite losing power and Internet as the storm swept in, they have seen Sandy’s effects first-hand and are doing their bit to help.
They will be offering a pair of special in-game items for purchase with 100% of their proceeds donated to NY Cares, a leading charity and volunteer organization serving the NYC area, for Sandy relief. See more information about NY Cares at http://nycares.org/donate_now/.
Multiple members of the Guns of Icarus Online team have been donating their time and energy in an effort to help victims of the storm. "We have a responsibility to do all we can," says CEO Howard Tsao. "We quickly realized the best way we can mobilize people to help is through our game. Right now, especially with the snowstorm that just hit the Northeast again, people are still without power and in need of basic things such as blankets and baby supplies in addition to food and water. With the items we create, we hope they can make a difference for those who really need help."
Guns of Icarus Online is the first co-operative airship combat game mixing together first-person shooter action with team-based strategy. Up to four people will crew a ship, taking on one of the key roles of Captain, Gunner, or Engineer joining a team and fighting against other ships above the post-apocalyptic waste. In Guns of Icarus Online, it will take teamwork and tactics to dominate the skies. More information at www.GunsofIcarus.com and on Steam at http://store.steampowered.com/app/209080.
