Mass Effect 3 and and Mario Party 9 will NOT be sold in UK by biggest retailer GAME - PC PS3 X360

Mass Effect 3 will not be stocked at Game stores across the UK, The retailer has apologised to customers on its Facebook page but does not give a reason

The Electronic Arts (EA) title is released at the end of next week.

"We're contacting you with news that, unfortunately we are not in a position to supply you with your copy of Mass Effect 3," said a statement.

Game customers who have pre-ordered the title will be given £5 in loyalty card reward points.

The high street chain has refused to comment on reports that other EA games could be affected from next month.

Game Group renegotiated terms with its suppliers recently, which gave the firm some breathing space while it is working on a refinancing. It is thought to have told suppliers it would only trade on "manageable credit terms".

The firm trades from more than 1,270 stores in nine European countries and Australia but has seen its share price drop 90% over the last year.

Game's lenders – Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays, HSBC, Caixa, Allied Irish Bank and Bank of Ireland – are wielding considerable influence over the business and are pressing for a sale of Game's overseas stores.

It will also not be stocking this Friday's release of Nintendo's Mario Party 9, from the best-selling Mario series.

Game Group shares slumped 16% or 1p to 4.9p after the embattled retailer revealed that it will not stock EA's forthcoming release Mass Effect 3 amid reports of a dispute with the US games giant.

Game runs 1,274 stores around the world, including 610 in the UK.
