Xperia PLAY – the world’s first PlayStation certified smartphone - full specifications and details

Combining PlayStation gaming experience with Android smartphone technology and super fast graphics with dedicated game controls to deliver the ultimate smartphone gaming experience available from March 2011.

In portrait mode the phone offers best-in-class entertainment experiences, 5 megapixel camera, 4 inch multi-touch screen and social networking.

Slide out the game controls to enter a world of mobile gaming. The 'slide out' game pad has a digital D pad, two analogue touch pads and two shoulder buttons. The latest optimised Snapdragon processor with a 1Ghz CPU and embedded Adreno GPU graphics processor for silky smooth 60fps play-back 3D mobile gaming and Web browsing with low power consumption for long battery life and game play.

Xperia PLAY runs on the latest version of Google’s Android platform, Gingerbread (v2.3). Xperia PLAY is the first PlayStation Certified device it will have access to PlayStation game content through the PlayStation Suite.

The Android Marketplace coming to Xperia PLAY games include Need For Speed, Sims 3 plus a 'world-first' multi-player version of FIFA 10. Joining Guitar Hero, Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell and a range of high quality 3D game titles.

Pre-loaded applications will enable users to discover and download apps optimised for game play on Xperia PLAY, access recently played games and see game information.
