Final Fantsy XIV will be exclusive to PC and PlayStation 3, Square-Enix didn't want it that way but the closed Xbox LIVE set-up has forced them to make that decision.This follows the cancellation on Champions Online by Cryptic Studios again due to issues with Xbox LIVE.
I don't think this will be the last MMO video game that doesn't make it to the console due to the restrictive nature of Xbox LIVE.
Hiromichi Tanaka of Square-Enix, admitted "The main reason why we couldn't go with Xbox 360 was the Xbox Live system, Xbox LIVE different to the normal internet environment, so when we wanted to introduce this game in the same environment as Windows PC it had to be PS3, so that was our choice. Microsoft has a different point of view: they want to have a closed environment for Xbox Live. We're still talking to ... We couldn't come to an agreement on Xbox Live."
