Eurogamer, Europe’s leading independent games media specialist, is thrilled to announce games industry veterans Chris Buckley and Catherine Channon have joined the company’s expanding team.

Chris joins as Advertising Sales Manager for GamesIndustry.biz and Cat is appointed as Publisher heading up a new, as yet, un-announced project for the business. Between them they have over 30 years experience in the games industry.

Salesman Chris joins the company from Intent Media, where, having started in 2000 as their Senior Sales Executive he was swiftly promoted to Group Advertising Manager responsible for the advertising on all magazine and online launches up until his departure at the beginning of 2008. Prior to this he spent many years in the coin-op and theme-park entertainment industries.

Meanwhile award-winning PR Cat, returns from a year overseas broadening her already extensive skill-set specialising in social media in the Ski and Snowboard industry among many other things. Previously Cat spent ten years in public relations heading up the UK PR departments at Vivendi Games/Blizzard Entertainment and Take-Two Interactive amongst others following many years as a games journalist.

“2010 is going to be an exciting year for GamesIndustry.biz," said Buckley. "And I’m really excited to be a part of the Eurogamer gang. I’ve been in the industry many years and working alongside some new faces and making deals with some very, very familiar ones in my new role is going to enable us to achieve some great things.”

“It’s fantastic to be part of a business and an editorial team I’ve long admired," commented Channon. "Some of the industry’s best, young talent keeps Eurogamer pushing the possibilities of what can be achieved in the online space and this new project is no exception.”

"We’re delighted to welcome Chris and Cat to the team," said Rupert Loman, Managing Director of Eurogamer. "Well known, respected and liked in the industry they bring with them years of experience, great contacts and a wealth of knowledge which places Eurogamer in an incredibly strong position to start the new year positively."
