The classic indie hit Icy Tower makes a long awaited debut on Facebook next week. Originally developed by casual games studio Free Lunch Design, the game with the simple goal of jumping as high as possible inside a tower, has a large international fanbase. Icy Tower, already boasting over 20 000 000 downloads and a Facebook fan page with over 220 000 fans, is now getting the social treatment.
We have direct contact with over 400 000 fans, both through Facebook and our web page, they’ll all get a direct invitation on the release day, says Magnus Alm, CEO at Muskedunder Interactive, owners of the Icy Tower concept.
The Facebook version of Icy Tower will include features such as new unique towers, dueling, customizable characters, trophies and global leader boards. All which have been long sought after by the games hardcore fans. The game is free to play, with the possibility to upgrade character appearance and buy new towers through micro transactions.
The game differs a lot from the most successful social games, which are almost always in the management genre. Icy Tower features a more active game play, bringing classic arcade energy to the player.
Taking the experience to a whole new level, while staying true to the core design is imperative, says Johan Peitz, original creator of Icy Tower and Technical Chief at Muskedunder Interactive. We’re confident the casual fun of Icy tower is a welcome addition to the management cluttered social game space, he says.
