Redbana Announces Corporate Presence in North America and First Online Game Products
Redbana US Corp., the North American development and publishing division of T3 Entertainment, today officially announced their presence in the North American market as a premier game development and publishing studio. Their first order of business is the localization and ongoing operation of the hit global title, Audition, a massively-multiplayer online rhythm game with more than 300 million registered users worldwide.
“Redbana is committed to creating quality titles for all types of gamers in North America and abroad,” said Young Rok Park, CEO of Redbana. “We are a new studio, but with the formidable support of our parent company T3 Entertainment, we are confident in our ability to bring a legacy of success in the online games space. Additionally, we’ll be working on our own original IP while partnering with independent developers to publish unique and entertaining titles.”
Redbana took over operations of Audition from Nexon earlier this year. The game was originally launched in Korea in 2004 and has since become a worldwide phenomenon, with more than 300 million users playing Audition in more than 50 countries. In the game, players create deeply customizable avatars to compete in virtual dance competitions. An in-game microtransaction system allows online stars to buy unique hair styles, attire, accessories, faces and more.
“We look forward to welcoming the North American Audition community, and are working to improve and add to the game on all levels,” said Park. “As any person that has spent time in Audition knows, it’s a very engaging experience regardless if you play alone or with friends. Be careful though, it’s easy to let virtual fame go to your head!”
In 2008 Redbana acquired select intellectual property rights from Flagship Studios, which the company will announce plans for shortly.
