dark-void-video-game-aliensCapcom announce a spectacular line-up for consumers attending this year’s GamesCom in Cologne between 19 th – 23 rd August. The show will be the first time that European gamers can get their hands on future titles Lost Planet 2, Monster Hunter Tri, MotoGP 09/10 and Nintendo Wii brawler Spyborgs as well as the action packed sci-fi adventure Dark Void and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Ultimate All-Stars.

The upcoming title Dark Void blasts into center stage at the Capcom booth. Creating a thrilling new gamezplay dynamic for the third-person shooter experience, gamers will defy gravity with Dark Void’s unique vertical combat system and take to the skies with the explosive jet pack. To bring the real life flying experience to consumers Capcom will be hosting the Dark Void Body Flying Machine. Situated right outside the Consumer Hall, visitors can literally blast off in a vertical orientated airstream at 180km/h. Consumers can then leave the show in one of 200 branded Dark Void taxis that will be driving through Cologne, but not before playing the game at the booth and receiving a limited edition Dark Void gift.

After journeying into the Void, gamers can dive into one of the most beautiful titles ever created for the Nintendo Wii. GamesCom marks the western debut of Monster Hunter Tri, with a demo in English appearing for the first time. Visitors can experience the same game that took the Tokyo Game Show by storm last year where the lines of anxious hunters stretched right around the Capcom booth with a waiting time of over five hours. Living the life of a hunter won’t be a solitary experience, as gamers will be able to hunt co-operatively and form a team of up to four players to survive in a living, breathing eco-system where man co-exists with fantastic beasts.

Adding to the list of debuts, racing game fans won’t want to miss the exclusive worldwide showing of MotoGP 09/10. Taking the series in a refreshing new direction, gamers will get the chance to play a hands on demo and experience for the first time some of the new challenges that reward racing style and skill that requires more than just crossing the line in first place.

Going from the race track to the fighting arena, the upcoming, visually stunning Nintendo Wii title Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars will have fighting game fans’ fingers twitching. Players can choose from the combined roster of colorful characters to create the ultimate tag-team with the likes of Street Fighter favourites Ryu and Chun-Li and classic Tatsunoko stars Ken the Eagle (Gatchaman) and Casshan. Each character brings a unique arsenal of moves, including spectacular hyper-combos that literally take over the screen with devastating results.

European gamers will be able to experience the highly anticipated extensive multiplayer action of Lost Planet 2 as the title makes its worldwide debut on the PLAYSTATION 3. This impressive next installment sees a return to the Lost Planet but offers gamers a series of totally new epic challenges with battles erupting on a planetary scale. Players will need to journey across a range of harsh environments and defeat giant Akrid in explosive four player co-operative play where skill and team work will be tested like never before in an epic fight for survival.

Also available to European gamers for the first time is Spyborgs, the upcoming beat-em-up brawler coming exclusively to the Nintendo Wii. Designed around the two-player co-operative experience, gamers will need to slash and pummel their way through hordes of mechanized enemies and wickedly challenging boss battles.

To complete the line-up Capcom has teamed up with Intel to bring visitors to GamesCom the fear they’ll never forget. PC gamers can be among the first to experience the survival horrors of the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 5 for PC. Intel will be showing the game which takes full advantage of the intelligent multi-core technology in the Intel Core i7 processors on a series of high spec PC’s in their dedicated RE5 booth situated in Hall 9.1, 61A.

Scratch Ultimate DJ video game back on track with the help of ex rockstar Ubisoft and EA developers

Scratch The Ultimate DJ video gameScratch Ultimate DJ Video Game! has new developers: Commotion Interactive, the music and party game division of Bedlam Games. That's great news, as we can get back on track for early 2010 release on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Nothing has changed as far as development or game direction goes. Fred Galpern, Gaming product manager at Numark said.

"The game itself will remain true to what has been released in the press so far," Galpern says. "The core gameplay has received some well deserved praise through focus tests and the sweet party we threw at E3. With so much positive feedback, we’re not planning to change the core features."

"The Commotion team is comprised of developers that come from a wide variety of respected studios including Rockstar, Ubisoft and EA," Galpern tells us. "While this is Commotion’s first music game, the combination of their game development background and true appreciation of hip-hop makes them the perfect team."

And as far as the competition, Activision's DJ Hero, goes, they don't sound worried at all: "We are focusing launching our own game and making it the best in the genre."

Allods Online video game Melee and Ranged fighters for both the Empire and the League explained and illustrated

Allods Online video gameAllods Online is the upcoming free-to-play AAA MMORPG developed by Astrum Nival and published by Gala Networks Europe across Europe. It will be available as a free-to-play download from the gPotato.eu portal this Autumn.

Allods Online gives players twenty eight playable classes to choose from. These are derived from the game’s six races and eight archetypes. Each of these classes has its own class-specific special move, as well as their own armour set.

This will allow players to develop their own range of powers, appearance and gameplay strategy. The gPotato team is proud to unveil an overview of the melee and ranged fighters in Allods Online. These feature classes from both the League and Empire, and cover the Warrior, Scout and Templar archetypes.

Every party that wants to survive an adventure in the dangerous world of Allods Online will need a heavily armoured fighter with them. Taking the hits and protecting their companions are the Warrior archetype. This archetype has combat advantages which put them squarely in the front line of battles. The Kanians have their ‘Champions’, the Gibberlings have ‘Brawlers’ that use their agility to hold their own in a fight, the Xadaganian ‘Vanquisher’ has higher magic resistance than his peers, while the Orc ‘Brute’ is a strong, tough fighter.

Working alongside these walking tanks are other important fighters: Templars. The Templar archetype has special self-shield that will absorb some of the damage they receive. Players will be able to choose from the Kanian ‘Knight’ and Elven ‘Paladin’ that can inflict heavy damage on their opponents. Alternatively, they can choose a Xadaganian ‘Commissar’ who can lower damages on his entire party with his battle cry, or an Orc ‘Reaver’, destroying everything in its path.

Finally, the last of the non-casting archetypes is the light-footed and stealthy Scout. The Scout archetype can enchant their arrows with various types of magic. Kanian ‘Stalkers’ can shoot a blinding arrow. Gibberling ‘Tricksters’ are specialist in rooting their enemies with their net. Xadaganian ‘Saboteurs’ are specialists with anything to do with explosives, and a penchant for laying mines, while Orc ‘Headhunters’ are fierce trackers that few of their targets are able evade and survive.

Depending on the Archetype chosen, each class has its own special abilities, look, style and tactics. This gives players plenty of choice depending on whether they want to side with the league or the Empire. Further information on the casting classes will be released in the not too distant future, but for the latest news on Allods Online, check out the official European website at http://allods.gpotato.eu.

Microsoft explain Games on Demand pricing - Mass Effect is 6000MS points in Australia but only 1600MS Points in the US

games on demand screenshotKotaku asked the question on Microsoft GoD pricing...

Microsoft's Games on Demand pricing isn't exactly consistent across this orbiting ball of dirt we all call home. What costs $20 in one place costs $40 (or sometimes more) in another. So we asked Microsoft, why the discrepancy?

Microsoft HQ said the pricing decisions outside the US were the responsibility of that particular territory. So, for example, if Mass Effect is priced at 6000 Microsoft Points in Australia (as opposed to only 1600 MSP in the US), then that's Xbox Australia's decision. That's fine. So we asked Xbox Australia. Their response?

No one retailer has the lowest pricing for every product, and our program is about giving people 24 x 7 convenience and selection when shopping for Xbox 360 games.

We're incredibly excited about what Games on Demand means for digital distribution, and will continue to evaluate and evolve the service to meet market and consumer demands.
