Game developers are cutting costs in order to punt out cheaper games according to a games industry Web Site.

The report states that standard price points for console games are dropping below the usual $60 for XBox and PS3 titles and $50 for those released on the Wii, because developers are recycling code and rehashing game engines to create entirely different titles.

The most extreme case in point is probably Ubisoft's Shaun White Snowboarding which is based on the engine developed for Medieval mystery adventure RPG-type thingummy, Assassin's creed.

Stiffer competition for shelf space also means that gaming houses are considering lower prices.
