GamePaused releases its first product - the ‘Exploded GameBoy T-Shirt’ - the first in a line of clothing from the video game culture community site.
‘If you could measure the affect of a console on the future of games the GameBoy would probably be the most influential by a long way - the iconic handheld was the birthplace of many of our favourite games and their characters. We wondered what would happen if you exploded the GameBoy to find out what wonders were inside this magical console. We found out on the Exploded GameBoy T-Shirt.’
Printed in Pantone Black and 021 Orange on a high-quality white 100% cotton tee, the shirt is on sale for £16 from gamepaused.net
Based on the critically acclaimed Dead Rising for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop follows the harrowing tale of Frank West, an overly zealous freelance journalist on a hunt for the scoop of a lifetime.
In pursuit of a juicy lead, he makes his way to the small suburban town of Willamette only to find that it has become overrun by zombies. Frank escapes to the local shopping mall where he thinks he will find safety only to discover its crawling with the un-dead.
In order to survive players will have full reign of a realistic shopping centre where an endless supply of real and makeshift weapons will be at their disposal to fight off the flesh-hungry mob. Utilising the Wii remote, this new iteration to the series will take zombie-bashing to a new level as you shake, swing and aim your weapons in an effort to take the enemies down.
The game is split into a series of individual cases, all of which Frank must complete in order to gain vital information that allows him to piece together the truth behind the horrendous epidemic.
Players will be faced with the dilemma of deciding the rescue priority of the Willamette residents who have also sought sanctuary in the mall. Depending on the player's skill some may not be as fortunate as others as each rescue needs to be undertaken in a set time period causing players to delay completion of a case in order to save a fellow human.
Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop's infectious humour delivers welcome relief from the incessant tide of zombies with players able to dress Frank up in a variety of comedic costumes and take on the undead hordes with a selection of highly ineffective weapons such as a toy sword or a football.
Features:
Utilises the same engine as Resident Evil 4 Wii edition
New level of interaction utilizing the Wii remote – aim and fire guns, swing and throw weapons and shake off zombie attacks with added Wii remote functionality
New enemies exclusive to Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop
Huge environment – Vast indoor and outdoor mall areas provide a variety of different locations to explore
Improved save functionality allows for more seamless gameplay
Hordes of enemies on screen at once resulting in non-stop, pulse pounding action
Anything in the mall is at Frank's disposal for battling the flesh-hungry mob
Grab environmental objects, such as umbrellas and benches, or store items, such as golf clubs and lawnmowers from the mall shops to use as improvised weapons
Consume food and drink from one of the malls many restaurants and cafés to resume Frank's health
Hotel for Dogs, the video game based on the upcoming feature film, “Hotel For Dogs” from DreamWorks Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies, will jump, sit and stay across Europe in 2009 (concurrently with the movie in each territory). Coming to the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS and Windows-based PC, Hotel for Dogs features the likenesses and voices of the movie’s two young stars, Emma Roberts and Jake T. Austin. And, of course, lots and lots of dogs.
In the Hotel for Dogs video game, players enter the old hotel to help two siblings, Andi and Bruce, feed and entertain an adorable collection of canines by building amazing gadgets, playing with the pooches and keeping the dogs happy in their new Hotel home. Navigating through 10 levels of fun and challenging game play, players must accomplish various goals to keep their beloved canines healthy and amused. Players will even explore the areas outside of hotel as they attempt to locate and rescue additional pups in need of some major TLC.
Distributed by Paramount Pictures, the live-action “Hotel for Dogs” stars Emma Roberts, Jake T. Austin, Lisa Kudrow, Kevin Dillon and Don Cheadle in a smart, funny comedy adventure that shows how far love and imagination can take you. When their new guardians forbid 16-year old Andi (Roberts) and her younger brother, Bruce (Austin) to have a pet, Andi has to use her quick wit to help find a new home for their dog, Friday.
The resourceful kids stumble upon an abandoned hotel and, using Bruce’s talents as a mechanical genius, transform it into a magical dog-paradise for Friday – and eventually for all Friday’s friends. When barking dogs make the neighbors suspicious, Andi and Bruce use every invention they have to avoid anyone discovering “who let the dogs in.”

Players are reporting that Grand Theft Auto IV on PC has some major reliability problems - but Rockstar is on the way to the rescue.
"We are aware that a small number of fans are having problems running GTA IV on their PCs and we would like to assure them we are working to help solve these as quickly as possible,"
a Rockstar spokesperson told GTAGaming.
"We would ask anyone that is encountering difficulties to contact their local technical support helpline for advice and recommendations. These telephone numbers can be found in the game's manual. "There is also a regularly updated technical support page available on the Rockstar Games website where there are many useful FAQs, and information on how to resolve some common problems being encountered,"
added the statement.
The problems appear to revolve around lengthy validation and astronomic graphics settings that not even the best PCs can utilise. One Steam forum member summed the problems up eloquently. As Kotaku points out, the Steam forums are not the only ones awash with floundering fans: GTAForums and the GTAGaming boards both exhibit large mobs of disgruntled purchasers.
This is a shame, because Grand Theft Auto IV remains a classic game, although the PC conversion - as Kieron Gillen highlights in his review - has a few too many technical hiccups.
Leave the city behind! DICE, an Electronic Arts, today announced that the highly acclaimed first-person action adventure title, Mirror's Edge will release downloadable content (DLC) for the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system, the Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system and the PC in late January. DICE also confirmed today that the PC version of the game will ship to retailers in North America on January 13th and worldwide on January 16th, 2009.
Players will be challenged to achieve the fastest times possible on nine races across seven all-new and totally redesigned Time Trial maps. No guns, no cops, and no city: this is true aesthetics, agility and flow that will challenge any runner. This special DLC pack will be available for $10 USD or 800 Microsoft points. As an added bonus, all PLAYSTATION 3 Mirror's Edge fans will be able to download an additional map for free.
"The freedom of movement and control in first person has been the most popular aspect of Mirror's Edge so we decided to distil these down to their purest form for this map pack," says Owen O'Brien, Senior Producer, DICE. "We deliberately chose a more abstract aesthetic that is still within our distinctive art style and then focused on flow and gameplay to create an experience and challenge very different from the main game."
Time Trial is a popular mode in Mirror's Edge that challenges players to find the fastest route across various maps. Players can upload their best time to the Mirror's Edge leaderboards for their friends to download and compete against. Players can see their friend's 'ghost' run as they race their way through the course to the top of the leaderboards.
Mirror's Edge was awarded "Best Xbox 360 Game" at the recent GC Developers Conference in Leipzig, Germany. It also received the "Best Action Game" of Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) by IGN and the Game Critics Award for "Best Original Game" at E3 in July. Mirror's Edge delivers players straight into the shoes of Faith, a modern day heroine who traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat, fast-paced chases and challenging puzzles. With a never-before-seen sense of movement and perspective, players are drawn into Faith's dangerous world.
