Google coming to PSP with 4.0 update

Google is heading to the PlayStation Portable and will have a place on the handheld's Cross Media Bar (XMB) menu, Sony said Tuesday.
It will appear when users upgrade their PSPs to the version 4 firmware, which will be available "soon," according to Eric Lempel, director of the PlayStation Network, who was posting on Sony's PlayStation Blog.
"This new upgrade replicates the Google Internet search experience, delivering the same search results that you'd get at www.google.com. And with a search history recall of 20 items, Web searches couldn't be easier," he wrote.
Google will appear in the network section of the XMB. Also new in the version 4 firmware will be the ability to change viewing speed when playing back videos from Memory Stick cards.
Sony has regularly offered updates to the firmware of the PlayStation Portable since it was launched and through such updates has added a host of new features. Previous updates have added features such as a Web browser and support for a wider range of video formats.

ABOUT FATAL INERTIA EX FOR PLAYSTATION 3

Set in the middle of the 22nd century, Fatal Inertia EX is an evolutionary sporting event that draws from the combined disciplines of rally racing, demolition derby, and tactical air warfare. In this brave new world of combat racing, players pilot their gravity-defying machines through the untamed wilderness, while unconventional weapons move and react to realistic principles of physics and magnetism rather than follow pre-scripted motions.

Fatal Inertia EX features a never-before-seen environment exclusive to the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Situated amidst scorching desert dunes, the Fatal Inertia Proving Grounds is a mecca for aspiring flight jocks driven to prepare themselves for the mental and physical punishment of low-altitude combat maneuvering. Along with offering a restructured training curriculum, the Proving Grounds are also home to the game’s eight new tracks.
A re-tuned flight model improves handling and achieves higher speeds than previously seen. Flight controls take advantage of the DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller and the option of using SIXAXIS motion sensing technology. The game’s newly-added “Master” level Quick Races will push the fastest men and women to their limit.

Fatal Inertia EX delivers heightened visuals which include new weather effects, significant scenery enhancements, and an overhauled garage for racecraft customization. Spread across 59 courses in seven exotic high-definition environments including lush rainforests, massive glacier fields, and canyons of razor-sharp rock, the beauty of Fatal Inertia EX could easily mask the harrowing thrills in this high-speed contest of champions.

Fatal Inertia EX provides a glimpse into the future of racing in stunning 720p HDTV and in-game Dolby Digital audio. Multiplayer features include split-screen two-player races, online and LAN races for up to eight players, plus leaderboards.

Buzz! comes to Sony PSP

Take the Buzz! show on the road with PSP

Buzz to make his PSP (PlayStationPortable) debut this Spring

Test your quiz skills wherever you want with Buzz! for PSP
Enjoy brand new round types and three new PSP multiplayer modes
Bigger single player mode than ever before – are you up to the challenge?
This Spring, for the first time in Buzz! history, you’ll be able to take cheeky game show host Buzz! wherever you want – thanks to the release of the first Buzz! title for PSP (PlayStationPortable), the handheld entertainment system that offers gaming, web access, movies, music, photos and more.

New from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Buzz! for PSP packs over 5000 questions – on topics including music, celebrities, TV, sport, science, nature, movies and general knowledge – alongside 1000 pictures and videos, into a handheld PSP game ready to test your knowledge at home or on the move. The title features six new round types specifically designed for PSP including the speed-is-of-the-essence ‘Quickfire Challenge’, the picture-puzzler ‘Picture This’ and the mind-boggling ‘Virus Challenge’.

The focus of Buzz! has always been on social play and the PSP version is no different, with three exciting multiplayer modes to test your quiz skills to the limit. Pass Around is a mode that you only need one PSP for, as you pass the system from player to player. As well as the fun of traditional quizzing, some rounds will let you prey on your opponents’ general knowledge weaknesses: you can choose who to pass PSP to according to the question’s subject matter. Other rounds will let you select the section of a photo you want to reveal to the next player, as you try to make it as difficult as possible for them to guess what it is. It’s perfect for stitching up your pals and adds an exciting new tactical edge to game play - as well as a new social gaming element to PSP.

Game sharing is also supported – up to 4 friends can connect multiple PSPs and share just one copy of the game to see who’s quickest off the mark in frenzied ‘Fastest Finger’ play. Then there’s Quiz Host Mode which is where one of the (two to six) players takes control of the game to select and ask the other players questions. The Quiz Host runs the whole game, with the power to award (or even deduct!) points however they see fit.

Not only does Buzz! for PSP offer great multiplayer quiz action; it also has a bigger and more exciting single player mode than previous Buzz! games. This mode presents players with a series of 15 different quiz challenges designed to test all aspects of your general knowledge. In each round, players can earn medals for their performance according to how many points they collect from correct answers. Each quiz has bronze, silver and gold medal criteria, so be sure to brush up on your general knowledge skills if you want to earn those elusive golds! There is also a variety of special trophies to collect according to how many correct questions the players has answered in a row, or how fast the players react.

Key Features:
• Three new multiplayer modes, all requiring either just one PSP or one copy of the game to enjoy: Pass Around, Game Share and Quiz Host
• Bigger and better single player mode than ever before, with 15 quiz challenges to test your knowledge to its limits
• Six all-new single and multiplayer round types specially created for PSP
• Over 5000 unique questions alongside over 1000 licensed picture and video assets
• Eight question categories: Music, TV, Science, Celebrities, Nature, Sport, Movies and General Knowledge

It’s the perfect way to share the fun of PSP with friends, or test your general knowledge on your own. Brilliant for a long journey, on holiday or at home, Buzz! for PSP will keep you and your friends quizzing for hours.

OVERVIEW

Each version of echochromefeatures 56 exclusive levels - totaling over 100 levels across both versions - with each unique level designed specifically to match that platform’s characteristics. Offering the most gameplay with the least graphics, echochrome is likened to playing a M.C. Escher drawing on PlayStation®. The player controls an infinite canvas, guiding a mannequin figure by carefully controlling the perspective, tilting and turning the level to create a continual pathway for the character to walk safely through the design. The goal of each level is to reach all of the echos, or shadow guides, as quickly as possible.

There is no set pathway for any level in echochrome. Players will find different and limitless ways to advance through each stage. Additionally, players are able to create their own unique levels using Canvas Mode, and share them with their friends. A simple and highly addictive puzzle game, echochrome will change your perspective.

THE 5 PERSPECTIVE LAWS THAT GOVERN echochrome
  • Perspective traveling - By manipulating the viewpoint, the player can connect two pathways that are apart and the character will travel across as if the routes are connected.
  • Perspective landing – The character will fall down a hole and land on whatever appears beneath it.
  • Perspective jump – The character will jump when if it walks over a jumping platform. One it begins its descent, it will land on whatever appears underneath it.
  • Perspective absence - By hiding jumping platforms or holes, they cease to exist.
  • Perspective existence – If a gap in a pathway is blocked, the character will walk over it as if the pathway is connected.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video games on Nintendo Wii PLAYSTATION 3 Xbox 360 PlayStation 2, PSP (PlayStationPortable) Nintendo DS Windows

Fans will relive the thrills, action and excitement of the movie this holiday season

EA’s Casual Entertainment Label and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced that the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game will be released later this year to coincide with the Warner Bros. Pictures film based on J.K. Rowling’s sixth Harry Potter book.

“We believe that the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game represents a milestone in the movie tie-in genre,” said Harvey Elliott, Head of EA Bright Light studio in the UK where the Harry Potter franchise has its home. “Building on the technological advancements of previous games in the series and with a particular focus on the unique control system of Nintendo’s WiiTM, the team here is working closely with the filmmakers to create an immersive interactive experience that captures the story, the action, the excitement and, above all, the fun of the film. ”
“Working with EA, we look forward to offering fans a compelling Harry Potter video game, one which captures the thrilling storyline and high visual quality of the movie,” said Scott Johnson, Vice President, Business Development for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “The adherence to the rich fiction is a trademark of this franchise and with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince fans will experience the most authentic and enjoyable game in the series to date.”

In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort’s defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn't counted on Romilda Vane’s chocolates! And then there’s Hermione, simmering with jealously but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.

In the game of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, players will return to Hogwarts to help Harry survive a fraught sixth year. They will also have a chance to engage in exciting wizard duels, mix and brew magical ingredients in Potions class and take to the air to lead the Gryffindor Quidditch team to victory. Players may even get sidetracked by Ron’s romantic entanglements as they journey towards a dramatic climax and discover the identity of the Half-Blood Prince.

Under development by EA Bright Light Studio, the team behind the worldwide success of the Harry Potter library of games, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is scheduled for release in time for the movie launch this fall for the Nintendo Wii, PLAYSTATION 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PSP (PlayStationPortable), Nintendo DS, Windows PC, Macintosh and mobile devices.
