The story revolves around a young ordinary office clerk, he isn't a hero or a wizard, but an average citizen. As we watch him, we lose ourselves in his emotional state. He’s exhausted by the monotony of life and hounded by thoughts about the meaninglessness of existence. He starts wanting to change something in his life, to find new meaning in compassion and empathy, while trying to help others. While entering a dialog with potential suicide victims, he will investigate their problems and will need to carefully choose the right words. It isn’t easy since the main character tends to hide his fear of difficult subjects with black humour and an ironic attitude toward the world around him. Ultimately, it’s his defence mechanism. In light of the stress of hearing these people’s stories and his pity for the departed, the main character experiences gruesome psychedelic dreams that give rise to the sensation of an approaching mental breakdown.
The point to be emphasised is that the developer — Dramatic Music Plays — is a single-man studio from the so-called City of Bridges — Saint-Petersburg. Needless to say that the main reasons for choosing such a hard and delicate topic for the game are a personal experience and a will to raise the mental health awareness.
“This is not a topic for everyone, but why is that? Surely it should be for everyone.” - says Egor Perviy, head of Dramatic Music Plays. “After all, a public taboo around it creates the artificial isolation of those who are affected by it. Sure we have made some positive strides, but far too many are still stigmatised, simply due to a lack of education. And here we come to the root of the problem; the unnecessary stigmatisation of the topic at hand that in turn leads to an acquired fear of the unknown, and ultimately a lack of social education and understanding.”
