Full-time popsters, part-time humanitarians U2 have set their sights on stepping out on the gaming stage to star in their own Rock Band game.
Talking to USA Today, bass player Adam Clayton revealed that the band had been in initial talks with the creators of the game EA and MTV Games last year, only for discussions to break down.
Now it appears having seen the attention to detail paid to the Beatles Rock Band game, and the input taken on from living Beatles members and widows of members of the band, they are now ready to reprise the idea of having a game developed.
Speaking specifically on the Beatles Rock Band game, Clayton said, "What The Beatles have done, where the animation is much more representative of them, is what we're interested in, rather than the one-size-fits-all animation. We didn't want to be caricatured."
The release of Beatles Rock Band has helped narrow the gap between fellow music game rivals Guitar Hero, while EA hopes the announcement of Rock Band landing on the iPhone, will support the Rock Band cause even further. Whether people are yearning to sing into the mic like Bono, or grab the axe like The Edge in their living room, we are not so sure, but an endorsement from one of the biggest bands in the world should do wonders for a game genre which is not appreciated by all in the music industry.
