Additional Mode Adds A New, Deadly Twist To RE5 Multiplayer Gameplay

Tired of working together with other players in Resident Evil 5? Ready to show your co-op partner exactly what you think of their gaming abilities? Capcom is pleased to announce that a new multiplayer mode for the soon-to-be blockbuster, Resident Evil 5, will be released post-launch as paid digital content via Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network. The new mode, called ‘Versus,’ adds a deadly twist to Resident Evil 5’s multiplayer, pitting players against each other in a contest of survival, a marked departure from the central co-operative nature of the game.

Versus allows up to four players to match wits in online battles across two very different game types. Slayer’s Rule is a point-based game that challenges players to kill Majinis. In Survivor’s Rule, players hunt the most dangerous game, each other! Players can begin the hunt as Chris, Sheva or other secret characters, and choose from either one-on-one or two-versus-two team matches for either of the two gameplay styles.

Versus will be available on Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network a few weeks after Resident Evil 5 is available. Versus will be available for 400 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE or $4.99 on the PlayStation Network. Versus mode requires the Resident Evil game software in order to be played. A broadband internet connection is required.

Sequel to Resident Evil - The Umbrella Chronicles, joins Resident Evil Zero and the Nintendo Gamecube remake of Resident Evil on the Wii Platform

Resident Evil - The Umbrella Chronicles
Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced its plans for a big comeback of its multi-million-selling franchise, Resident Evil to the Wii video game system this year.

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, the sequel to the highly successful Wii title Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, is in development exclusively for the Wii and is set to hit North American retailers this winter. Capcom also introduced its plans for a new Resident Evil “Classics” line, which will bring the critically acclaimed Nintendo GameCube classics, Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero exclusively to the Wii, allowing a whole new audience to experience the world of Resident Evil.

“We are very excited to be bringing the sequel to Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles to the Wii as it’s the perfect fit for the platform,” said Mona Hamilton, vice president, marketing, Capcom Entertainment. “We are always looking for new ways to give Capcom fans a chance to experience our games. Umbrella Chronicles was a huge success for us, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles includes a more in-depth co-op experience, and we are excited to bring this exclusive content to the Wii audience.”

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles‘s story is based on Resident Evil 2 and includes the popular characters, Leon S Kenney and Claire Redfield. Its on-rails style gameplay and active camera will create a more immersive “Chronicles” survival experience. As in the last installment, this is a first-person game with extreme shooting gameplay and interactive pathways.

Filling in many of the missing pieces of storyline that were not covered in the original “Umbrella Chronicles”, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles will give hardcore fans the chance to re-live some of the most classic moments of the Resident Evil franchise, while allowing new players to take advantage of the intense action-horror experience only possible on the Wii.
Gamers can choose to take on their enemies with the help of an A.I.-controlled character or enlist the help of a friend to fight via two-player co-op. Adding new dimension and strategy to the arcade-style gameplay in the “Chronicles” experience, the new Evade system will utilize the Wii Remote for a more intense experience when fighting enemies.

Capcom’s new Resident Evil “Classics” line will allow the new audience who has embraced the Wii to experience some of the greatest games in the Resident Evil franchise for the value price of $29.99. Both set to launch this year, the remake of Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero have been refitted to support the Wii Remote, giving the Wii audience easy access to the rich characters and in-depth storylines of the series and the chance to experience both games on a new platform.

More information on Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles and the Resident Evil “Classics” Line will be revealed in the coming months.

In Keep-A-Head you control two explorers afflicted with the ‘twofer’ curse, a malevolent spell that leaves their bodies intact, but sharing just the one head! Collect voodoo totem heads in 50 puzzling levels. Avoid head-stealing monkeys, bouncing shrunken heads, flesh eating plants, zombies and deadly lava flows to undo the curse!

But it doesn’t stop there – if 50 levels of head swapping action weren’t enough, Gimme5games has also launched Gwizz, a substantial extension to the www.gimme5games.com site that allows users to build, prove and release their own levels for other users to play. Keep-A-Head is the first outing of Gwizz with many more games planned for the system.

“Gimme5games.com has been pushing its social elements forward with Hi5’s, Gimmes (virtual currency) and Stickees (achievements), Gwizz represents another substantial leap for the site and gives the users even more control of the content, we’re very pleased with it indeed” offered General Manager, Matt Spall.

Matt Spall will be representing Gimme5games at the “Flash Gaming Summit” in San Francisco later this month.
