New gameplay trailer for 8-Bit Armies on September 21 - PS4 XO

Fast-paced Real Time Strategy game 8-Bit Armies is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on the 21st of September, both digitally and physically. A physical PC version will also be released on this date. The eagerly awaited action-strategy title was made by the Command & Conquer era veterans at Petroglyph.

8-Bit Armies is a tribute to classic RTS games and is suitable for existing fans and new players of the genre seeking a friendly approach to strategy gaming. With a colourful, blocky voxel art style, the game is accessible to anyone regardless of experience.

Dystopian future visions of Glasgow and cutting-edge HoloLens technology at Abertay Digital Graduate Show

More than 100 graduates from Abertay University’s School of Design and Informatics will showcase a wide range of work from May 11-15, including games, virtual reality (VR) experiences, sound design projects, animation, 3D modelling, concept art and illustration.

Held at Abertay’s Student Centre in Dundee, the five-day festival comes after the University was named best for computer games education in Europe for a fourth consecutive year by the prestigious Princeton Review.

Fire Point First Person MR simulator from Abertay games team in $100,000 Seattle tech contest

Fire Point is a First Person MR simulator, built around helping firefighters explain and display what their daily work environment is like but without putting anyone at risk. We are currently using the latest in MR (HoloLens & Windows Mixed Reality) technology to help bring the experience forward in the best possible way. The simulator allows you to see through the eyes of a firefighter as you make your way through the multi-storey training ground but with a variety of different encounters to tackle and try to master your skill as a firefighter.

The main purpose behind the idea was, that we felt the emergency service needed a hand in using the latest pieces of technology (VR, MR & AR) but at the same time have something fun and entertaining to use. The plan is for the simulator to be used at open days or recruitment days so they are able to visually show off what it is like to train as a professional, whilst allowing individuals to give it a try and test their skills.

You plan actions of your group while at the same time try to balance the morale of your members, get resources needed for the actions and avoid getting caught by the Gestapo. Big political events follow the actual historical time-line and influence your options and what happens to your group. Your members are fictional and procedurally generated on each play through. They come with different personalities, abilities and views. As leader of the group, it's your job to fight the regime by winning hearts and minds of the people, holding your group together and leading them through the darkest of times.
