All of these charming creatures are waiting for you to play in highly contested games in Q2 2009. Blood Bowl is currently in development and will come out on PC, Xbox 360 and on Nintendo DS and Sony PSP handheld systems.

Arma II PC video game - What's in a name?

Arma II PC video game
505 Games and Bohemia Interactive have taken steps to unlock some of the mystery surrounding their forthcoming tactical military simulation, ArmA II by revealing the secrets behind the name of the game itself. Project leader Marek Spanel took the time to shed some light on the unusual title.

The word ‘Arma’ is Latin in origin; a multifaceted word that depending on context can be used to mean defensive arms, shields, soldiers or weapons of war amongst others. The reasons for the team at Bohemia choosing such an ancient and unconventional word are two-fold; to have a name that is easily remembered and pronounced across different languages and to signify that just like the name itself, ArmA II’s gameplay is boldly different and not afraid to deviate from tried and tested shooter formulae.

When creating a name for their flagship product, Marek and the rest of Bohemia Interactive were equally keen to avoid videogame name clichés of the past and walk their own line.

“[When naming the title] it felt like almost everyone preferred something along the lines of Battleshock Operation Force 3: Thunderstorm Troops over a simple and strong word, with a strong foundation behind it,” commented Marek. “Choosing the right name had been a big deal for us, but ultimately we know the quality of this game will speak for itself.”

Featuring the most realistic warfare ever, ArmA II promises to build on the excellent features that have made Bohemia Interactive a respected name among gamers. Players can expect in-depth team-based combat, a comprehensive playbook of military tactics and an enormous battlefield to push strategy to the limit.

ArmA II will be released on 26th June exclusively for PC.

New Vote Kick system patch for Combat Arms Europe video game

Combat Arms EuropePlayers can now decide over the fate of abusive players on their (unified) own at Combat Arms Europe, the popular free-to-play FPS title by Nexon Europe Limited.

With today’s update, Combat Arms Europe delivers a further advanced level of game-play environment with a striking new feature, the Vote Kick system.

This new system which is available for all players at all levels for free allows players to vote for kicking out certain players from the game who obstruct the game-play through abusive behavior and use of hacks and/or glitches.

This system is especially effective as a vote can be conducted at any time during the game play, and players don’t have to wait until the current round is over to sack a deviating player.

As soon as players spot an abusive player within their own team, anyone belonging to the team can start with a vote by pressing the F5 key and following the simple, yet discrete steps to set the target player and reason for enforcement, which will then be sent to all playing users on that team. Players who have received a ballot can then either vote for or against the enforcement by pressing the F5 or F6 key, and if the majority (over 51%) finds it reasonable and agrees to the action, the target player will be automatically kicked out of the game immediately.

The target player for enforcement will be alerted by a friendly message that “a voting session is being held” and a vote will be considered null if it is not made within the limited voting time of 15 seconds.

The “Vote Kick” was designed as a defined measurement against imprudent misbehavior and illegal use of hacks and glitches, long-term issues that engage every popular online game.
“Maintaining a clean and fair game-play environment is one of the top priorities of Combat Arms Europe,” says Sung Jin Kim, Directing Manager at Nexon Europe. “We already support the cash item “Elite Moderator” that allows players to kick noted abusive players from a room before starting a game, and it is very welcomed by our players as they can directly and immediately take action over those who obstruct the game-play for everyone else. The “Vote Kick” system now allows players to catch misbehaviors on the spot, and the team can fairly decide over the equity of an accusation. We believe that the new system along with the in-game reporting system, Elite Moderator and of course steady GM patrols will encourage the fair-play and friendly competition at Combat Arms Europe.”

Today’s patch further includes new additions to the “Black Market”, the third female mercenary Hana and EXP & GP Bonus Items to splash additional 25% on top of the usual portion.

Combat Arms Europe drives on to gain enthusiasm and popularity among European gamers with its exciting mix of various combat styles, battlefields and multiple game modes, presented in eye-catching graphics and customized characters. Combat Arms Europe also features a high level of socialization with in-game Buddy List, Clan System, Community Support and many more.

This essential composition of traditional as well as advanced FPS elements and striking socialization features is free-to-play, representing a truly unique offering in the ever evolving world First-Person-Shooters.

“Skira makes for an immense and, with the latest visual pass, a magnificent battlefield; we’re exceptionally proud of the build so far,” said Sion Lenton, Executive Producer, Codemasters. “Creating this vast island, populated by unscripted AI military forces, is no trivial matter and so, to get this absolutely right, we’re now investing additional development time. We’ll be working right through the summer to deliver all formats this autumn and create the best possible experience that people will want to enjoy again and again.”

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is the complete antitheses of the on-rails, run-and gun action shooter. Players are empowered with the freedom to handle military crisis situations on their own initiative, deploying the weaponry, vehicles and equipment of a contemporary fighting force. Objectives are set, it’s then up to the player to decide how they are achieved are in exhilarating, unscripted missions. Armed with cutting-edge military hardware, players will need to balance brute force with intelligent use of tactics.

No game will ever play out the same way twice thanks to advanced and reactive AI that uses real world military strategies. In battle, the brutal effects of modern weapon systems are brought alive with huge explosions and persistent building damage as players fight a unique path through this unmistakable, unrivalled battlefield.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is set to deliver the most accessible, engaging and visceral sandbox shooter of the year when its published this autumn for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system and Games For Windows.
