Real Heroes - Firefighter video game screenshots

Grab your smoke masks and get ready for white-knuckle firefighting action, as today Conspiracy Entertainment and Epicenter Studios have released screenshots for "Real Heroes - Firefighter" for the Nintendo Wii.

Showcasing extensive use of the Wii's motion control features, "Real Heroes: Firefighter" will have players swinging fire axes to bash down doors, aiming water hoses to douse infernos and ripping through obstacles with chainsaws.

In development by Epicenter Studios, "Real Heroes: Firefighter" emphasizes non-violent, game-integral puzzles and challenges that mirror the on-the-fly choices firefighters face every day.

Featuring Epicenter's proprietary "Thinking Fire" technology, blazes will seem almost alive as they not only attack structures, potential victims and firefighters, but also cause unexpected changes to the environments that will suddenly alter the player's options and strategies.

No two scenarios will play out the same way in "Real Heroes: Firefighter."

Rhianna Pratchett returns for new Overload video games

Signing Award-Nominee Rhianna Pratchett to Pen Scripts for Overlord II, Overlord Dark Legend and Overlord Minions

Writers’ Guild Award-nominee Rhianna Pratchett has been signed as scriptwriter for Overlord II, the sequel to the hit twisted fantasy adventure from Triumph Studios, and both series extensions – Overlord Dark Legend and Overlord Minions.

The announcement sees Pratchett continuing her role as writer and narrative designer for the delightfully despotic series and follows her nomination for Best Videogame Script for her work on the original Overlord game in the Writers’ Guild Awards 2008. In addition to videogames, the prestigious Writers’ Guild Awards recognises the best in British writing talent across TV and radio drama, soap, comedy, theatre and movie screenplay categories. The awards will be held at BAFTA (The British Academy of Film and Television Arts) on Sunday 23rd November 2008 in London.

“For a relatively new entertainment medium, it’s a sign of great progress that the industry is being recognised by the Writers’ Guild in this way. Writing for games is part alchemy, part narrative woodwork and part swimming in shark infested waters wearing ham pants, so it’s a real honour to be nominated for Overlord. The Overlord titles are fantastic creative projects and Triumph and Codemasters make a talented and supportive team who keep some of those sharks at bay,” said Rhianna Pratchett. “It’s a real pleasure to be back in the evil writing seat and taking the Overlord and the Minions to new lands and new adventures for the 2009 titles.”

Coming 2009, all new titles in the Overlord series include Overlord II for the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Games For Windows, Overlord Dark Legend for Nintendo Wii and Overlord Minions for Nintendo DS. OVERLORD MINIONS

• An irresistible and accessible puzzle action game designed exclusively for Nintendo DS, Overlord Minions stars Giblet, Blaze, Stench and Zap as a crack Minion squad, assisted by minion master Gnarl. The Nintendo DS stylus becomes an extension of the Overlord’s despotic desire and every precise Touch Screen command is the player-as-Overlord directing, commanding and combining minions in battle, pointing and sweeping them to assault enemies and solve puzzles to achieve their abominable aims. Overlord Minions is now in development at Climax Studios.

Wizard101's Wizard City PC halloween video game

KingsIsle has waved a magic wand over the family-friendly virtual world Wizard101 and conjured new limited time content, including three Haunted Towers and eleven frightfully fantastic adventures.

For those brave enough to seek out a wily scarecrow named Jack Hollow in Wizard101's Wizard City Commons, several spooky challenges await, including:

• Test your courage against the ghostly inhabitants of three brand new towers

• Rescue Wizard City from a ghastly spell by defeating the Baron Mordecai

Wizard101 features spell-casting adventure and card style game play. The game's family-friendly safety features include a collaborative play style, a chat system with many options and a character name selector. The game contains no blood, and characters don't die if they are defeated in a duel of spells-they simply go to a safe area in the game to regain health.

The Entertainment Software Ratings Board has given Wizard101 a rating of E10+. Anybody with a Windows based PC can play the Free-to-Play areas of the game for as long as they like. Advanced content is available by subscription at the rate of $6.95 per month on the family plan and $9.95 per month for a general subscription.

Spooky Spirits puzzle video game for PC this Halloween

Spooky Spirits, an addictive puzzle game for PC that centers on the adventures of Becky and Tim, a pair of spirit wardens sent back to Earth to hunt runaway ghosts that have escaped from the Netherward - a place where naughty ghosts, known as Spookies, are sent for haunting and frightening innocent humans. Having fallen asleep on their watch and lost the Spookies, Becky and Tim are banished and risk losing their warden jobs unless they manage to recapture them. Pokemon Ranger - Shadows of Almia video game for Nintendo DS

Pokémon fans, get ready for a grand adventure this winter as Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia launches across Europe on 21st November. Sworn to protect the people and the Pokémon of the all-new Almia Region, players will be powering up their Capture Styler to team up with Pokémon in an adventure to thwart the evil forces endangering Almia. Featuring Pokémon familiar from Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, the Almia Region offers adventure around every corner, including additional missions that can be downloaded using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia players start off as a rookie at the Ranger School, with the ultimate goal of becoming Top Ranger still a distant dream. But as soon as a series of mysterious events disturb the peace in Almia, the brave Rangers of the Ranger Union are called in to investigate. Who is causing Pokémon all across the region to behave so strangely – and why? Players will get to the bottom of the biggest threat Almia has ever faced, uncovering the origins of the Ranger Union in the process.

Challenging Missions and dozens of additional Quests will put players’ skills to the test as they try out the revamped process of capturing Pokémon by befriending them with a device called the Capture Styler. This makes use of the Nintendo DS Touch Screen in a fun and exciting way. Players must slide their Stylus on the Nintendo DS Touch Screen and draw loops around the target Pokémon with the Styler’s Capture Disc - but be careful, capturing Pokémon is not as easy as you think!

Players must work out how to use the specific strengths of Pokémon they’ve befriended to their advantage. By using Poké Assists in clever ways even the most dangerous Pokémon can be captured. Helping out the people of Almia in need allows players to earn all sorts of power-ups for their Capture Styler, preparing them for the dangerous boss encounters ahead.

The skills of befriended Pokémon will also come in handy to conquer the many obstacles found in the varied terrain of the Almia Region. Skilful use of Field Moves specific to certain Pokémon will help players cut vines, cross underwater lakes and burn logs blocking their path. But a Ranger can’t rely on other Pokémon alone, and must develop skills to climb dangerous cliffs, navigate the narrow platforms of a treacherous temple or find a way to escape from the enemy’s hideout.

True Pokémon Rangers will be rewarded with additional Missions that can be downloaded via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, which can result in unexpected surprises.

Mortal Kombat v DC Universe to be in storein North America on November 16th, 2008, and Europe on November 21st, 2008.
