Black Box, a studio of Electronic Arts, announced today that it will be partnering with leading global action sports footwear and apparel brand, etnies, to bring their epic Goofy vs. Regular (GvR) skateboarding contest to the videogame world. Gamers will lead a team of goofy foot or regular foot pros as they pit the best skateboarders against each other in the ultimate team competition.

“The Skate franchise has always been committed to showcasing the spirit and soul of skateboard culture,” said Executive Producer, Scott Blackwood. “The etnies GvR competition celebrates the fun, creativity and talent in skateboarding today. Featuring the event as one of the main competitions in Skate 2 felt like a natural integration and a perfect fit.”

Skate 2 picks up five years after the original Skate, a period marred by an unspeakable disaster that left San Vanelona in ruins. Within that time, Mongocorp rebuilt the city but their zealous protection of private property has put a damper on the once thriving skate population. Equipped with double the bag of tricks, gamers are tasked to rebuild their career and revive the New San Vanelona skate scene. With their ability to get off-board to move objects around and with help from a crew of locals, players will embark on a mission to take back the city, one spot at a time. Along the way, they’ll need to get coverage, earn sponsorships, own challenges and enter contests, including a coveted invite to etnies GvR competition.

Skate 2 will be released for the PLAYSTATION 3 system and the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system in early 2009. The game has not yet been rated by the ESRB.

Details about Mount & Blade, the upcoming single-player medieval combat title for the PC annouced.

“What separates Mount & Blade from other action RPG’s is that that most RPG’s have more statistics-based combat, while we use skill-based combat,” explained Armagan Yavuz, Lead Programmer of TaleWorlds Entertainment. “Even though the damage you do is influenced by the statistics of your character and his weapon, it is also based on physics formulas: the energy, speed and impact angle of the weapon. For example, if you are rapidly approaching your enemy while you’re mounted on a fast-moving horse, the damage will be much greater since the momentum of your horse is added to the speed of your weapon's swing.”

In addition to its highly advanced combat dynamics, Mount & Blade features an open environment in which players can go anywhere to interact with characters and forge alliances—or conquer foes—throughout hundreds of villages, castles and towns. The game lets you play a seasoned railroader turned entrepreneur, as you try to build your own circa 1850s railroad empire.

Loco Mogul has three distinct phases of play.


There's the Minesweeper-like search for hidden towns, mines, and other businesses in a territory.

There's the building phase, where players build a functional railroad, complete with train stations, junctions, bridges, and mountain tunnels.

Finally, there's the click-management phase, where players run their trains and try to maximize profits by delivering rail cars to their destinations in time.
