Railroad Corporation 2 Quick Start Guide Economic Hints: Do not rush through your goals. If you finish goals quickly, you will receive new ones. The game will up the pressure by you overperforming. Goals do not make you rich. Use your additional time to prepare your infrastructure and financials for challenges to come. Actively trade in Wood and Grain, these are your best sources of income in the early game Sell locally. Transporting goods to sell them in another city is great but not effective if there is demand locally. Click on the production facility (e.g. Logging) and click “sell in town”, then click “Set up a rule” and select your rule. (The default works great) Become more profitable by making refined resources. It is best to produce refined resources as close as possible to the raw resources so that your trains can focus on distributing high value goods. Place banks on social land for additional income Do not sell resources to a factory you intend on buying, as you will also have to purchase its inventory. Logistical Hints: When building railroads, always build one-directional semaphores. This makes it so that a road becomes one-directional and multiple trains can make use of it. To quickly place semaphores, keep shift pressed when placing the semaphore. When building railroads with one directional semaphores, always build a parallel road that runs in the other direction. (Semaphores are placed on the right side of the road in case you are having trouble determining the direction.) Trains need maintenance; make sure to build repair stations at your stations. The default train is really powerful. You can upgrade it with research. Unlocking better trains is often a long endeavor which you should only start on a strong economy. The fuller your train, the slower it moves and accelerates. Hills also slow down trains. Upgrade bridges if they become chokepoints. Gameplay Hints: You can pause the game at any time. If resources are produced or consumed in a town the town grows its population, slowly increasing demands. If you satisfy the existing demand for a resource in a town, the demand will grow over time but the price people are willing to pay will go down. The lobbying department is the most profitable. The geology department is the most useful. Loans and bonds charge higher interest payments if you have a bad credit rating. Use the mini map in the bottom right to identify opportunities.
