Set in the quiet, grief-stricken years after the war, Hollow Mire blends psychological horror with a deeply emotional story of memory, loss, and a mind slipping between truth and madness.
Players step into the fractured inner world of John Rowe, a World War 2 veteran turned journalist whose wife and daughter vanished without explanation. When a new assignment brings him to the remote Breken House, long-buried memories of his family and of the war claw their way to the surface, distorting reality around him.
Running parallel to John’s unravelling is Detective Gwen Porter’s investigation into a missing patient and a murdered orderly at the archaic and brutal Bordon Down Asylum, uncovering a chilling connection that binds their stories together.
The game features highly detailed and realistic hand-painted environments inspired by mid-20th-century England.
A beautifully produced dark-cello soundtrack supports the game’s themes of loss and memory, shifting between tension and sorrow, and rising to fear and action, while a fully-voiced cast delivers a strong experience with memorable character performances.
Players are invited to navigate Hollow Mire's dark story through branching-decisions, action-based war flashback sequences, relationship management, investigative puzzles and memory reconstruction, ultimately leading to 8 unique endings.
