3D Sci-Fi RTS Shallow Space game to get released - PC

Shallow Space is a Unity 3D powered real-time strategy game inspired by Nexus: The Jupiter incident and Homeworld.

The independent project has quickly garnered an impressive following and is currently an ever-present in the IndieDB top100. After building a following on IndieDB and through its official blog, Shallow Space earned Steam Greenlight approval in just six days.

Shallow Space is being developed by Crackdown Games, an independent video games developer studio founded in 2014 by James Martin.

Currently in development by a close-knit team, Shallow Space is a stunning 3D real-time strategy game inspired by classic RTS titles 'Nexus: The Jupiter Incident' and 'Homeworld'.

Players take command of varied fleets and dominate sectors of space, tending to both random encounters and gripping storyline missions in a fully 3D universe. Whether providing policing and escort duties, harvesting resources or responding to random encounters – or even all at once – the dynamic gameplay of Shallow Space gives players the freedom to direct their own authentic space adventure on multiple fronts.

Shallow Space made its début on IndieDB earlier this year and quickly garnered a dedicated following. Impressive early gameplay footage and regular updates soon saw the game rank 6th in the IndieDB Top 100 Most Popular Games chart - one place behind Minecraft at the time. After registering for the Steam Greenlight program in June, Shallow Space was approved and 'Greenlit' in just six days.

A gorgeous new pre-alpha demo showing off a dynamic space-based assault has captured the imagination of sci-fi fans, and developer and Crackdown Games founder James Martin is now ramping up development for an alpha release.

"I'm blown away by the reaction to the Shallow Space concept and footage", says an excited James Martin. "It's awesome to see so many gamers sharing our vision for a great sci-fi RTS after months of work. 16 million gamers use Steam (myself included) and I’m very proud to join the title’s on there."

Shallow Space is powered by the Unity 3D engine and upgrades are already planned for many of the models and particle effects seen in the pre-alpha footage. A thrilling back story with a vivid timeline is currently being crafted by emerging author John Harper, who recently enjoyed success with his officially licensed Elite: Dangerous novel, Elite: And Here The Wheel.
