Age of Wulin - Legend of the Nine Scrolls NEW screenshots - PC

Age of Wulin, the upcoming martial arts MMORPG by Gala Networks Europe and Snail Games, will soon enter its Closed Beta Testing stage.
To bridge the waiting time, publisher Gala Networks Europe today reveals new information on the detailed crafting and professions system of the game, which will play an important role in every player’s activity:

Age of Wulin’s professions can be grouped into four categories, ranging from Manufacturing and Gathering to Culture and Marketplace jobs.
Manufacturing professions obviously drive the crafting process in Age of Wulin. Blacksmiths will be able to smith their own swords, daggers and other bladed weapons. Tailors will produce clothing. Chefs will cook meals – a player’s character needs to eat regularly, there’s a complex hunger and tolerance system in the game, and hunger can even effect crafting abilities and the quality of manufactured goods.

All manufactured goods can be sold off, either in direct trade to NPC retailers and tradesmen, directly to other players, indirectly through auction houses, or on market stalls: Players have the chance to bid for market licenses, which allow them to control a booth for a limited time, giving them an additional sales platform. Players can even hire NPC sales staff to increase sales, and work on pricings.

Gathering professions are good to collect resources, of course, and to earn money. Typical professions in this category are the farmer, fisherman, hunter, woodcutter or miner.

Some truly unique professions can be found in the culture and marketplace profession categories: Players can not only choose to become beggars, for example, but also pick the profession of a musician, or even of the Chess-player, a professional gambler who offers to play Chinese Chess. Other jobs are the Scholar, who is an expert in Chinese Calligraphy or the musician, who generates buffs on bystanders – these can be extremely useful in instances.

Each profession in Age of Wulin has its purpose, so every player working in his or her profession contributes something to the Jianghu, the game world of Age of Wulin: While the contributions of the manufacturing and gathering professions are pretty obvious, there’s still a lot to be found within the cultural and marketplace professions. Musicians for example create buffs that will affect all bystanders. The more experienced they are in their job, the bigger the area of effect these buffs have.
Beggars generate good “chi”, positive energy: By donating money to the poor, players can work off negative points they gathered for negative actions, such as crimes. Also, beggars will try to sell a bag with surprise content – this could be quite something to the potential buyer.

Players will be able to learn and train in professions from each category, and thus can work in multiple professions. Shifus – professional trainers – can be found everywhere in the Jianghu. For a few coins they’ll be happy to pass on their knowledge to the players. Each job comes with in-depth training, though, and players have to gather professional experience to make their way through several ranks in each job.

Whenever players log out of the game, their character stays in the Jianghu and will – most likely – try to work in one of its professions. The result of this is the creation of ann active and lively world.

Age of Wulin is an epic free to play MMORPG set in Imperial China, which revolves around the lore and practice of Chinese martial arts within the Wuxia universe. Gamers can join eight different sects, each with their own unique style of combat, and experience deep character development. Players will not be bound by traditional level systems, but will instead have the freedom to choose how they want to master their character by acquiring skills. Freedom of choice is a theme that runs throughout Age of Wulin as players can choose professions and whether they wish to live good, evil, or in between. The choices made will ultimately determine many different outcomes and provide for a personalized story, which is unique for every player. Age of Wulin will offer a unique MMORPG experience in a gigantic open world, including ground breaking new PvP and PvE features, such as guild warfare mass PvP battles for up to 1,300 players.

Age of Wulin will be available in English, French and German in 2013 from the gPotato.eu portal, with the closed beta tests starting in early 2013.
