Award-winning puzzle game Cogs HD will be available as a launch title on the revolutionary iPad. In this groundbreaking game, players build increasingly complex machines using sliding tiles in 2D and 3D environments. New puzzles are unlocked by building contraptions quickly and efficiently. Players can work their way through more than 50 unique puzzles in three different game play modes.
Originally available on the PC, Cogs has been highly praised by the game development community. It was nominated for awards at Indiecade and the Independent Game Festival. At the Indie Game Challenge awards in February of this year, Cogs was given the jury's awards for Excellence in Game play and Excellence in Art Direction as well as the $100,000 grand prize in the professional category.
Rob Jagnow, founder of Lazy 8 Studios, explained that he's thrilled that Cogs HD was chosen to be included as one of the very first iPad apps. "The iPad is an ideal device for Cogs HD. Every aspect of the game, from the puzzles to the tiniest detail of the user interface, was designed to make the player feel like they're interacting with a giant machine. The high-resolution touch screen on the iPad is perfect for rounding out that immersive experience."
Available immediately, Cogs HD is priced at $4.99 (€4.99 or £3.50). As Jagnow explains, "We're excited to bring players all of the same puzzles from the award-winning PC game for half the price."
Jagnow said that it took several weeks of intense work to adapt the original version of Cogs for the iPad. "As with the iPhone version, we did far more than just get the game running on new hardware. We carefully tweaked ever aspect of the user interface to give players the best possible experience on the iPad. We also incorporated Chillingo's Crystal SDK into Cogs HD so that players can earn achievements, connect with friends and battle for standings in regional, national and global leader boards.
