BAFTA young game designer 2020 winners announced

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has today announced the four winners of the 10th nationwide BAFTA Young Game Designers (YGD) competition. This year’s winners, selected by a jury of industry experts, were revealed at the first-ever digital ceremony, hosted by presenter Aoife Wilson.

BAFTA YGD discovers, showcases and supports Britain’s young games talent by providing access to some of the most creative minds in the industry, through a year-round programme of mentorship, workshops and networking. Further information can be found here.

The all-new title is currently in development using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, which was used to create vivid gameplay experiences in hit titles such as Resident Evil 7 biohazard, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Devil May Cry 5. RE Engine paired with next generation console technology will elevate the survival horror experience in Resident Evil Village to new heights, as the title will showcase the most realistic and terrifying graphics to date. Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN returned to winning ways as Jarno Opmeer crossed the line first in a thrilling F1 Esports Pro Exhibition race around the streets of Baku. The Dutchman won on his debut for the team, sending a strong signal about the team’s strength and depth ahead of this year’s F1 Esports Series.

In the Formula One Virtual GP, Thibaut Courtois was left flying the team’s colours after another game freeze forced Antonio Giovinazzi out of the race before the lights were even off. The Italian has endured a torrid time lately, with technical issues with the software forcing him out from several races.
