University of Roehampton launches first UK eSports scholarship

The University of Roehampton is launching a scholarship for students with talents in eSports. The scholarship, the first of its kind for a London university, will be worth £1,500 a year and will support a student on any course, at any level, undergraduate or postgraduate within the university.

Ten eSports scholarships will be available for students enrolling in 2019 and applications will be expected from September 2018.

Students applying for the scholarship will need to demonstrate aptitude in the field and in common with other sports scholarships available at the University, successful applicants over the coming years will be required to display their commitment to eSports alongside successful academic progression.

Shoot for the Skies - Virtual Archer for your phone

If you think archery you’re probably transported to Sherwood Forest, green tights and the days of Robin and his band of merry men. That’s what we thought anyway, until we came across the epic, and totally 21st century Virtual Archer.

This rather impressive bit of kit takes the classic bow (although crafted in plastic and packed with technology rather than carved from walnut) and adds a string and smartphone holder.

Graveball, the spooky and savage skill-based sport where goblins kill one another

On quiet, creepy nights in a cemetery, depraved goblins play “Graveball.” In this 3-on-3 meld of football and basketball, goblins score by running a “skullball” into the end zone, throwing it into a hoop, or eradicating the other team in quick succession with their dangerous clubs.

Yet death is not the end for a goblin! Whether killed by another goblin or by slitting their own throats (they take this game very seriously!), they become ghosts that can speed across the court before respawning.

Monster Hunter: World Arrives August 9th on Steam + PC Specs

The wait for the critically-acclaimed Monster Hunter: World on PC is almost over! Originally planned for Fall 2018, Capcom has now confirmed it will be arriving on August 9th, 2018.

The title that released for consoles earlier this year has since gone on to become Capcom’s best-selling game in company history with over 8 million units shipped globally. In this entry, players take on larger than life monsters in a variety of vast, living, breathing ecosystems either solo or with up to three other hunters via online co-op, complete with drop-in functionality, a first for the series.

War Thunder’s Fiery Ball: Free For All Football (With Tanks!)

War Thunder are inviting new and old players alike to join the vehicular combat game’s newest limited-time in-game event, the Fiery Ball football competition. From today, all players can saddle-up in their tanks and join the hunt for scores on a battlefield extraordinaire, where only tactics, skill and teamwork decide the winning side.

Teams consisting of three (or four, in squad vs squad mode) players kick off in specially designed tanks that are fast, maneuverable and pack a serious punch - but a different one from those you’d regularly expect in a War Thunder battle. Upon firing the weapon, the tank lashes forward in a powerful sprint, much like a football player lunging for the perfect shot. Players can use this ability to pass the ball to a teammate, try to score a goal, or tackle their opponents - they are armoured, after all!
