The iPhone is amazing for a laundry list of reasons, but one thing that always struck us is why certain features that are otherwise found on lesser, punier phones, still haven't made the cut. A smartphone that can't handle MMS? Really?

Waiting for the 3.0 update so that we can copy/paste text? Huh? But the biggest offender has to be the lack of video recording support from Apple, something that hopefully a newly uncovered screenshot of iPhone 3.0 software proves may just be around the corner.

Gizmodo's worker bees (by way of Boy Genius Report and Mac Rumors) posted up images that were found buried inside the latest iPhone OS 3.0 beta, which clearly show an app designed for video recording. According to the main screenshot, there's a toggle button to switch back and forth between a still camera and video camera, and a big fat recording button in the middle. Within the configuration files where the screenshot was found were notes on potential features for the video software, including an auto-focus camera, magnetometer, and voice control.

So will the 3.0 software transform your existing camera into a video monster? Doubtful, in order to work, the firmware needs to read that a video camera is present, something that we don't think the current camera will register as, so what we're looking at is probably beta files for a next generation iPhone killer app. Still, the concept of video recording, even if we have to wait for it, is exciting.

Six days in Fallujah video game comes under fire from UK media

Father of killed soldier expresses concern that Muslim fanatics will buy the game.

Just hours after news emerged that Konami has signed a publishing deal with Atomic Games for its upcoming Iraq war title Six Days in Fallujah, UK newspaper The Daily Mail has reported on the ‘outrage’ felt by some connected to the armed forces.

“Considering the enormous loss of life in the Iraq War, glorifying it in a video game demonstrates very poor judgement and bad taste,” Reg Keys, whose son was killed serving in Iraq in 2003, stated. “It is particularly crass when you consider what actually happened in Fallujah.

“These horrific events should be confined to the annuls of history, not trivialised and rendered for thrill-seekers to play out, over and over again, for ever more. It's entirely possible that Muslim families will buy the game, and for them it may prove particularly harrowing.
