MapleStory Christmas events

Get set for snow and stockings galore as Nexon's hugely popular and free to play

Christmas is all around, and MapleStory Europe has yet again prepared a special celebratory event for a delightful Christmas that’s full of festive fun, excitement and generous presents.

The Christmas cheer, which starts on December 16th and runs until January 15th, invites players to explore an amazing, special Christmas town full of sparkling Yuletide trimmings and festive spirit. However, with the town short of one very important holiday staple - snow! - players will need to hunt down special Christmas items first if they want the snow to start falling and MapleStory Europe to have a traditional white Christmas.

And what’d Christmas be without gift giving? Players can present each other with items from the Cash Shop, and all players who send a gift item to a fellow player will receive a special Christmas present during the event period. Players also have the opportunity to participate at further events including Cash Shop Sale, 2X EXP and Drop Event, and many more.

MapleStory originally launched in South Korea in April 2003 and quickly went on to become one of the most successful online games of all time, with over 92million registered accounts across the world. MapleStory Europe, which launched in May 2007, is the latest iteration of the completely free to play franchise, and offers gamers in Europe the chance to play MapleStory in five different languages -

English, French, German, Spanish and Dutch.

Myth War II Christmas Event Preview

As this is the first Christmas since the birth of Myth War 2, the official team have been preparing and will launch two special themed events called Christmas Force and Mugged Santa Princess. Players could just experience a most unforgettable Christmas holiday in MW2 world.

Christmas Force:
Each year, Santa honors a pact with Myth War 2, delivering gifts to players in the Myth War world. But each year, Santa finds a clever new way to deliver the gifts. This year, he has decided to test our players to their limits. Only after successfully passing these tests can players get their Xmas presents this year! Good luck!

Mugged Santa Princess:

Santa Princess just loves to give – sometimes, when Santa Clause is occupied, she will deliver gifts for him. But recently, the Santa Rogues mugged her! If you can help Santa Princess get her gifts back, she will definitely pull something special out of her Xmas sack for you!

All of these holiday themed events will be available from December 20. Participate and you may win a chance for yourself to get Saint Pets or Xmas Pets.

Pearl Jam Rock Band Debut Album Ten to download

Full Album to be Released as Rock Band DLC Day and Date with the Re-issue of "Ten": Four Special Edition Packages in Stores on March 24, 2009

Ten, the debut album that sold 12 million copies and introduced the world to Pearl Jam (http://www.pearljam.com) in 1991, will be offered for download in the Rock Band Music Store day-and-date with the re-issue of the album in stores on March 24, 2009.

Paul DeGooyer, Senior Vice President of Electronic Games and Music for MTV Networks Music / Logo Group, added, “Just hearing the first few notes of Jeremy or Alive brings back all the raw emotion of this incredible, hugely important album. We are honored to be working with Pearl Jam to deliver Ten as it is re-issued.”

Pearl Jam released Ten on August 27, 1991. The album reached No2 on the Billboard 200 chart, sold over 12 million copies and became one of the cultural touchstones of the 1990s. The album was produced by Rick Parasher. Pearl Jam’s 1991 lineup was Jeff Ament (bass), Stone Gossard (guitar), Dave Krusen (drums), Mike McCready (guitar) and Eddie Vedder (vocals).

FATHER TIME MISSION

Players will once again be able to take on a very special mission from Father Time. Snaptooth has kidnapped Baby New Year in order to keep Father Time from passing on the chronological mantle. If he keeps Baby New Year locked away forever, guarded by the Red Caps and allies among the Tuatha, winter will never give way to spring and the universe as we know it may come to an end. Heroes and Villains can again band together to tackle this task!

Father time can be found through the doorway in Pocket D that leads to the ski chalet built on a piece of the Shadow Shard. If you help him out, he will give you a choice of one of several great holiday presents.

SKI CHALLENGES

Take a few runs down the snowy ski course outside of the ski chalet. Back from last year are the bunny and expert slopes to ski on, and new for 2008 is the enhanced ski run. Keep practicing as your ski times could earn you a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Medalist Badges!

Naughty Aura: When this aura is selected, the player will have a circling halo of flame around their head. The colour of the flame can be tinted.

Nice Aura: When this aura is selected, the player will have a circling halo of light around their head. The colour of the light can also be tinted.

HOLIDAY AURAS

This year there are two new Auras that players can purchase with Candy Cane salvage they accumulate.

CANDY CANES AND GAMESTER’S GIFTS

Gamester is up to his usual pranks. He has loaded the streets and rooftops with gifts for you to find. These presents may hold an Inspiration or Temporary Power, or other items, such as a Lump of Coal, a Snowbeast, or maybe even the Winter Lord waiting for you.

Candy Canes will again be abundant this year. This salvage is found with every present that Heroes and Villains “successfully” open and can be redeemed with the Candy Keeper located in the Pocket D ski chalet for a variety of holiday rewards.

WINTERS GIFT ENHANCEMENT SET

This holiday themed enhancement set is a Universal Travel Power enhancement set that will work in all travel powers and is only available during the winter event.

Critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto franchise makes its DS debut this March

Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, is proud to announce the release date for Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, the latest entry into the genre-defining Grand Theft Auto series. Developed by Rockstar Leeds, in conjunction with series creators Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be available for the Nintendo DS on March 17 and 20, 2009 in North America and Europe, respectively.

Wonderland Online - New Pet Strategies

There are three important new characters in Wonderland Online (http://wl.igg.com/) version 3, Charlotte, Eva and Angela. The following are some strategies for finishing their quests about Charlotte and Eva.

1. Fairy Charlotte

To get Charlotte, players should do the quests: Directing Monster, Alfer Gorge and Ma Stone.

Directing Monster
Target: Fairy
Condition: None　
Process: Go To 5F, Snow Cave, and find the transportation spot, enter it, and then talk with the fairy in it. After that she will join the team.

Alfer Gorge

Target: None
Condition: Finish the Directing Monster quest and she will bring you.
Process: Go along the left path of Angkor Aisle, and then jump from the cliff. After that go into the cave and click the bird beast there, Charlotte will then come and help.
Rewards: 500 EXP

Ma Stone

Target: Elven Elder
Condition: Both the Directing Monster and Alfer Gorge quests have been done
Process: Outside of the cave, on the left, there is a transportation spot through which players can go to Alfer Village, pass through and find the Elven Elder. He will ask players for Ma Stone, and Charlotte should go to Holy Land in advance. Go to Angkor and enter the transportation spot, then go strait. On the left at the end, go through the spot there, then go to the left and you can find a transportation spot again at the top left corner. Talk with Charlotte after entering and she will open the door then go to find the question mark, and fight with the holy beast.

Beasts’ Information: Lvl 110 Holy Beast * 1 HP: 15000
Holy Liondove with Earth attribute * 1, (Another Holy Liondove with Wind attribute will come out when it’s killed) HP: about 6000
Holy Liondove with Water attribute * 1 (It can use Sleep skill; another Holy Liondove with Fire attribute will come out when it’s killed) HP: about 6000.

Go back with the Ma Stone.
Rewards: Charlotte will become the players’ pet.

2. Evil Envoy Eva

Target: None
Condition: Both Mysterious Key and Fairy Charlotte quests should have been done
Process: The key is on the altar in the Main Town of Angkor (X: 1682 Y: 655). Go to the 2nd floor of the Incan cave (X: 4360 Y: 4080) after obtaining the key. Then open the door at the top right corner in the right cave.

Gears of War 2 Combustible Map Pack to download

Players will be able to enjoy the all new exhilarating action in the first "Gears of War 2" downloadable content mere hours following its exclusive premiere during the SPIKE TV Video Game Award.

More than 1.5 million people were drawn to “Gears of War 2” on Xbox LIVE during its first weekend, logging over 15 million gameplay hours and driving a new record for concurrent users. Now, the online experience has become even more explosive with the release of the Combustible Map Pack, a collection of three new maps for “Gears of War 2” available now on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 800 MS Points.

Debuted during the SPIKE TV Video Game Awards on Dec. 14, where “Gears of War 2” took home the Best Shooter and Best Xbox 360 Game awards, Microsoft Game Studios and Epic Games unveiled exclusive footage from the Combustible Map Pack with Marisa Miller (Sports Illustrated’s 2008 Swimsuit Issue cover model) and “Gears of War 2’s” Augustus “Cole Train” Cole (played by Lester Speight) presenting the first look at the new maps.

The Combustible Map Pack unleashes three new multiplayer maps: Flood, Gold Rush and Fuel Station.

• Flood is a very tight map that's made extra snug when the environmental hazard of Imulsion begins creeping up around the edges. As the playing field closes in, the firefight will intensify as combat is forced to the center of the map. Teams skilled at flanking their opponents will have a powerful edge.

• Gold Rush takes place in an old Imulsion refinery that now serves as a hotly contested battleground. Players must survive heavy crossfire as they infiltrate the factory and navigate multiple tiers. Breakable glass allows for a clean shot at those who make a dash for the Longshot rifle while bolder players make their run for the heavy weapon. In the right hands, the Mortar can be devastating on this map, so keep those smoke grenades armed as the concussive effect comes in very handy.

• Fuel Station is situated in a desolate area marked by an abandoned fossil fuel station. The team that secures and controls the station is likely to be the side that wins the match. An especially strategic location on this map is the rooftop, as there are only two points of entry – the main elevator and a staircase on the back side of the building. Heavy weaponry is situated right in front, which presents a high risk to reward ratio in this level. Lugging the Mulcher around, deploying it and revving it up can keep an entire team at bay, and unleashing hell from the rooftops is always an excellent tactic.

All of the multiplayer maps in the Combustible Map Pack are playable in the highly popular, five player co-op Horde mode.

Arcade

The power of a supercar with forgiving handling and more powerful brakes. Performance off road will be less but nowhere near as much as in Simulation mode. Breaking into corners and accelerating out of corners is far more straightforward and there’s no need to worry about spinning out all the time. You can REALLY throw your car around a corner and have fun whilst doing it. Don’t forget though – your opponents will be just as aggressive!

Simulation

The critically acclaimed handling returns. Drop your concentration for one second and it could mean you’re out of the race! For the hardcore simulation fans only, albeit with the option to change any of the assist settings.

Gimme A Break!

Your opponents’ artificial intelligence has also been completely rewritten with a brand new Dynamic AI setting allowing the game to change the challenge you receive based on how well or badly your career is going. Of course, if you fancy a real challenge you can always set the AI to Legendary… strap yourselves in tightly though because it won’t be an easy ride!
