Shortly before the release of So Blonde, Steve Ince has been nominated for the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain 2008 Awards. His script for the PC Adventure game So Blonde was shortlisted in the category “Best videogame script”.
“The Writers’ Guild Awards are among the most notable awards in Britain. I’m very happy and honoured that my script has been considered,” says Steve Ince who created So Blonde’s story, its dialogues as well as the game design. The Writer-Designer has fifteen years of game development experience. The Writers’ Guild of Great Britain Awards will be held on Sunday 23rd November 2008 in London.
So Blonde is a funny and colourful Point & Click Adventure game, featuring a very special heroine: Sunny Blonde. She is young, she is pretty and she has really rich parents – Sunny Blonde doesn’t have to worry about her life. The seventeen year old beauty should be on a luxury cruise over the Atlantic Ocean with her parents, but near the Bermuda islands the ship gets distressed at sea. Sunny blacks out and finds herself in a rescue boat.
When she wakes up, Sunny is lying under palms on a gorgeous sandy beach. Still a little bit dazed Sunny sees no other passengers from her ship – it seems that she’s completely alone, cast away on an island. But much more annoying for Sunny is the fact that she has to abandon of all her high-price merchandise: her cell phone has no reception, her makeup is awful and the next shopping mall is nowhere in sight. But that’s not enough. Unfortunate circumstances have brought Sunny back in time to the age of buccaneers and pirates…
So Sunny Blonde is in real trouble – and the gamer of the loony adventure, So Blonde, is called upon to get her out of this trouble. Steve Ince (noted for his work on the “Broken Sword” series) is responsible for this exceptional story. So Blonde, developed by Wizarbox from France, has a real off-the-wall story, a beautiful (anti)hero, black humor beyond all stereotypes, smashing cartoon graphics and some real surprises in the gameplay.

Revealing the incredible vertical scale of Damnation’s landscapes, Codemasters today released an all-new gameplay video with developer commentary video for the forthcoming steampunk-themed shooter. Now available to view or download from www.damnationthegame.com, the “Verticality” video features producer Richard Gilbert detailing the game’s blend of fast-paced shooter gameplay with intuitive spectacular acrobatics in massive environments.
Due for release this winter for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system and Games for Windows, Damnation features massive environments with huge draw distances that become the battlegrounds for the game’s intense fire-fights.
“We really wanted to open up the worlds and give the player freedom of choice,” says Richard Gilbert, Producer. “In Damnation, you’re presented with huge vistas – you’ll see your objective miles away and you have to intuitively find your path from where you are to that objective. In the same way that the navigation is intuitive, the control of the character is also intuitive. If you wanna grab a ledge, you just press jump and you grab a ledge. It’s not this disconnected feeling.”
Damnation’s vast streaming levels cover miles of horizontal distance, thousands of vertical feet and are flooded with hostile troops. Players will find and fight their own path through each environment, taking advantage of Rourke’s agility, high-octane vehicles like wall-riding motorbikes and deploying an array of powerful weaponry, including steam-powered ’Auto Revolvers’, ‘Dark Seraph Rifles’ and the deadly ‘Rail Road Spike Gun’. Gamers can also initiate Spirit Vision, a gift that allows Rourke to identify enemies hidden throughout the level and decide their own angle of attack.
In addition to the extensive single-player campaign, Damnation also delivers drop-in-drop-out co-operative play and innovative multiplayer modes. Taking advantage of the scale and height of Damnation’s levels, new game types and traditional deathmatch and capture the flag modes are given a vertical twist, where players have to balance firepower and agility and can kill or be killed from any direction.
Currently in development at Blue Omega's facilities in Annapolis, USA, Damnation will be available for Xbox 360, the PLAYSTATION 3 system and Games for Windows this winter. To download the video and for more information on the future of gaming, visit www.damnationthegame.co.uk.

First-person adventure “Rhiannon: Curse of the Four Branches” (PC) is scheduled for release in North America on October 5, 2008.
Legends, myths, and magic spill into reality as an ancient battle for revenge envelopes a remote Welsh farmstead in this puzzle-rich, point-and-click adventure game. As the Sullivan family, the new owners of Ty Pryderi, embarks on renovations and restorations to their new home, daughter Rhiannon reports unexplained noises and strange visions. Are these merely the figments of an overactive imagination of a 15 year old girl or does the history of this place hold a terrible connection to a timeless struggle between man and magic? Her parents take Rhiannon away leaving Ty Pryderi to your watch and exploration, but their absence can only postpone an age-old inevitability of revenge and death…Unless you can stop it.
