Rockstars livin' on a prayer for a set at Glastonbury 09
Six unsigned bands face-off in the Rockstar 08 final at the Pilton Party for the ultimate prize.
The chance to play a set at Glastonbury ‘09 is now a life-changing performance away for each of the six bands left in this year’s Rockstar talent search competition.
RockStar 08 swaps one famous Pilton venue for another, as the Working Men’s Club heats give way to the finals on Friday September 5th at the Pilton Village Party, held at Michael Eavis’ Home Farm. A big year for Scouting for Girls continues, as they play live at the event in front of 1200 music fans.Finalists 13D (Reading), Dead Like Harry (Sheffield), Major Major (Liverpool), Sound of Guns (Liverpool), local(‘ish) group Urusen (Bath) and The Velcros (Hertfordshire) will all face each other in a ‘battle of the bands’ encounter on the night, for a chance to win a dream prize. The winning band, will play live sets at the Pilton Equinox Party on 19th September, followed by a once in a lifetime performance on stage at the biggest UK festival, Glastonbury 09. Prior to that, the winners will also spend time recording at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Recording Studios.
The Pilton Party doors will open at 6.00pm, with all the rockstar hopefuls making their appearances from 7.00pm onwards. UK’s number one band, Scouting for Girls, are scheduled to hit the stage around 10.30pm for their own live performance.Headliners Scouting for Girls - Roy Stride, Greg Churchouse and Peter Ellard - might just find there’s a whiff of deja vu about the whole competition. A Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition gave them their first ever gig in 2005. Their debut single, It's Not About You became the highest-charting limited edition EP in history; followed by their debut album reaching number one earlier this year, which later went platinum.
RockStar 08 certainly has the potential to do something similar for the eventual winner of Friday’s final.

Epic, publishers of the Gears of War video games say that Gears of War 2 will not be released on PC unlike Gears of War.Gears of War 2 will remain and Xbox 360 exclusive title.
"Gears of War is a great franchise first and foremost for Xbox 360, and therefore we're focusing on that platform for Gears of War 2. We've decided we're not going to do a PC version this time around," said Cliff Bleszinski of Epic publishers of Gears of War.Maybe this was a reaction to the original Gears of War receiving a lower review score than the Xbox 360 version?

Gauntlet classic video game coming to Nintendo DS
Eidos confirmed that Gauntlet, a modern reworking of the classic fantasy hack and slash arcade game from Midway, will be released on Nintendo DS this October.
Gauntlet is set in a fantasy-themed universe where evil cloaks the world from the high clouds of Ascendia to the depths of the lava-ridden Abyss. Gauntlet players can choose from the four classic heroes, Elf, Warrior, Wizard, and Valkyrie, each with their own strengths, weaknesses and special abilities.
Throughout the Gauntlet journey, the heroes will slash their way through demonic foes and gain up to four power move abilities to aid them in their battle with evil.
“With Gauntlet we’ve revitalised all of the action and fun of the original 1980s arcade classic, whilst updating the visuals and gamezplay for today’s DS gamer,” said Ray Livingston, Brand Manager at Eidos.
“With four-player Gauntlet Wi-Fi cooperative mode, one of the most memorable multiplayer gaming experiences of all time is back with a bang.”
One of the few titles taking full advantage of the hardware capabilities of the Nintendo DS, Gauntlet offers Voiceover IP (VoIP) which allows voice communication through the Nintendo DS microphone, giving Gauntlet players more options to interact with their friends online.
Featuring 40 maps across three realms, Gauntlet offers fast-paced, retro RPG crusade-style gamezplay in addition to new and in-depth multiplayer features including cooperative play and competitive multiplayer.
The arcade style competitive multiplayer feature strengthens the addictive Gauntlet experience by introducing ranked multiplayer games like - Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Treasure Hoard Gauntlet game modes, hosted with local Nintendo Wireless play or via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
