Wanted - Designs for Warhawk Paints & Insignias

Competition winners will see their design featured as part of a forthcoming collection of player-created Warhawk insignias and paint schemes

  • We’re looking for original and eye catching designs so be creative!
  • Dylan Jobe, Warhawk’s Game Director, and the rest of the development team at Incognito will pick the best paint and insignia schemes
  • Submit your entries via the official Warhawk forums or email them to us before 23nd June to qualify

If you’re a creative gamer with a taste for frenetic and action-packed online military battles then Warhawk on PLAYSTATION 3 (PS3) is for you. Playable online exclusively via PLAYSTATION Network and available either by download from PLAYSTATION Network or on Blu-ray disc, Warhawk pits teams of gamers from across the globe against one another in a melee of armed combat with squad action coordinated by live voice communication. Whether you wage war on foot, at the controls of a tank, a military 4x4 or from the cockpit of the fearsome Warhawk, there’ll be non-stop action ahead. You’ll join an elite online community of teams and clans: all with full stat-tracking support, rankings, leaderboards, badges and awards to recognise the most driven warriors on the battlefield. One piece of advice, in Warhawk, nowhere is safe, you’re always somebody’s prey.

Having been in the thick of the action for the past few months, we’re now looking for new insignias and paint schemes for the Warhawk and Nemesis aircrafts and we’re running an online competition to find the budding artists who can produce them! If you can conceive imaginative, eye catching and unique paint and insignia schemes, we want you to send us your design. The winning designs will then be incorporated into the forthcoming patch update. This will allow all Warhawk players from across Europe to use them in-game to customise their troops and aircraft.

Entries will be judged by a panel from Incognito studios that will include Dylan Jobe, Warhawk’s Game Director. In order to qualify you must submit your design before by 22nd June 23h59 GMT – so get busy designing.

To take part in this cool competition, all you have to do is design a new insignia or paint scheme (or both!) – guidance on how to do this, plus technical restrictions and eligibility requirements, can be found on eu.playstation.com or on the official Warhawk forums at http://community.eu.playstation.com/playstationeu/board?board.id=608

If you have yet to experience Warhawk’s fast-paced and frenetic multiplayer military battles, then you’re missing out on the most adrenaline-fuelled online experience ever – it’s exclusive to PS3 and available either by download from PLAYSTATION Network or on Blu-ray disc. And with expansion packs such as Operation: Omega Dawn and Operation: Broken Mirror available now as downloads from PLAYSTATION Store, there is a lot waiting for you on the battlefield. Atari Announces Forthcoming Release of Asterix Brain Training Game for Nintendo DS

Asterix Brain Trainer for Nintendo DS, scheduled for 27 June release throughout Europe except France and the Benelux region where the game will launch in October. Asterix Brain Trainer is packed with entertaining mini-games led by everyone’s favourite Gallic hero, Asterix, which make puzzles, memory games and problem solving more fun than ever.

Developed by Little Worlds Studio in close collaboration with Asterix licensor Les Editions Albert RenĂ©, the game follows Justforkix’s journey to becoming a great warrior from Gaul. School may be out for summer, but there’s no rest for Justforkix who is sent to his Uncle Vitalstatistix’s village for extra-curricular training. Asterix, notorious throughout the Roman Empire for his wit and cunning, is put in charge of Justforkix’s apprenticeship and guides him through a host of activities in the little Gallic village we know so well. Exams are held in the village school to go over what has been learned, get graded and track progress as the player heads towards the final challenge to ultimately reach warrior status.

“With Asterix Brain Trainer, we are pleased to add the first brain training game to our extensive Asterix line up,” said Cyril Voiron, VP Brand Management, Worldwide Publishing, Atari. “ A summer release is perfect timing so that kids can keep their minds active and stay entertained with their favourite characters throughout the holidays and back to school period.”

Justforkix will join Asterix’s village companions for lessons in music and the arts with Cacofonix the tone-deaf musician, food and beverage with Unhygienix the smelly fishmonger, combat and women with Geriatrix the former Gergovian warrior and ageing lothario, and potions for common remedies with Getafix the respected druid (although the recipe for the magic potion shall forever remain secret!) As well as playing with Asterix and his cohorts, players can bring their own friends to the fun with up to four playing from a single cartridge in Wi-Fi multiplayer mode.

Asterix Brain Trainer for Nintendo DS is scheduled for 27 June release throughout Europe except France and the Benelux region where the game will launch in October.

X-Blades - Powerful attacking techniques

Player is rewarded with special finishing moves.

When Ayumi isn't using her effective combat spells, she faces up to the enemy hordes with naked blades and explosive projectiles. Since the unique Gunblades are a combination of sword and pistol, the heroine can change her combat style lightning-fast. Surrounded by countless opponents, Ayumi uses both blades with deadly accuracy in hand-to-hand combat. She's well versed in various combat techniques - and she makes full use of them to cut her way through the ranks of the monsters. The player is rewarded with special finishing moves for carrying out particularly successful combos.

However, Ayumi must first learn powerful attacking techniques by collecting hidden coin fragments throughout the levels. One three-piece set of these silver, gold or ruby artifacts releases a long-range or close combat upgrade. The new section “Fight” at www.x-blades.com reveals more information.

Alone in the Dark for Xbox 360 PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii goes Gold

Development Complete on Atari's Action Survival Opus, Title Ships 20 June in Europe, 24 June in North America

Atari today announced that development is complete on the highly anticipated action survival game Alone in the Dark, and the game is on track to ship 20 June in Europe and 24 June in North America for Xbox 360 game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PC, Wii and PlayStation 2 . The PLAYSTATION 3 version is scheduled for autumn 2008.
Central Park is hiding a secret. Over the course of one apocalyptic night trapped in Manhattan’s vast parkland, hero Edward Carnby must fight the unimaginable to survive and uncover the earth-shattering truth. New York will never be the same again.

Developed by Eden Games, Alone in the Dark for Xbox 360 and PC aims to change what gamers expect from action games with a ground-breaking reinvention of the classic franchise which debuted in 1992 and created the survival horror genre. Continuing the legacy of innovation of that first game, the new Alone in the Dark re-imagines the genre with engrossing cinematic presentation, compelling gameplay challenges and a thrilling narrative story arc.
The richly-detailed, contemporary setting of New York's Central Park is the host for a challenging mix of gameplay experiences, unprecedented environmental interaction and combat all based on real-world rules and physics. A seamless on-character inventory and health recovery system combine to maintain the immersion as the player drives the story through the free-roaming expanse of Central Park.
Inspired by the story-telling twists and turns of many blockbuster TV series, Alone in the Dark innovates once again with a DVD-style chapter select menu which lets players of all abilities reach the game’s dramatic, riveting climax and get the full value out of the game.

“With its genre-busting mix of gameplay, wide-screen presentation style and DVD chapter select feature putting the player in control, Alone in the Dark will thrill all gamers,” said Phil Harrison, President of Infogrames Entertainment. “It’s a game which will challenge the player but also reward them with a one-of-a-kind video game experience and a huge amount of fun.”
The Wii and PS2 versions of Alone in the Dark have been developed by Hydravision Entertainment in parallel with the Xbox 360 and PC games created by Eden Studios. The PS2 game pushes the hardware to maximise the gameplay experience, while the Wii game has been especially adapted to make use of the unique controllers in a variety of gameplay situations from driving to the real-time manipulation of objects.
In addition to the standard game, Xbox 360, PC and Wii Limited Editions will be available at launch from selected European retailers featuring exclusive items including hero figurine, art book and ‘making of’ documentary DVD.

Wild West Online - Gunfighter - 250,000 Gunfights in First Month of Beta

The first of a new series of games based on the rich history of the American West has captured the imaginations of tens of thousands of active players, who in the first month of the game’s open beta test have fought over a quarter million gunfights.
“We’re gratified but not surprised that players have really gotten into Gunfighter,” said Ariel Butler, Executive Producer for Tenderfoot Games. “The amazing thing is how fast word is spreading. We haven’t even begun to build in the ties to social networking that will really spread this game to players around the world.” Butler added, “The game is very easy to learn. Players quickly find there are multiple paths to victory, allowing extreme play flexibility. It’s great mental exercise, because you must outthink your opponents to win. We’ve been playing this game throughout its development and even we keep discovering new, viable strategies!”

In Wild West Online: Gunfighter, players assume the role of a gunslinger in the 19th Century American West. However, the game is not a simple “twitch” game, where it’s all about reflexes. Those games don’t work well on the Internet. Instead, Wild West Online: Gunfighter is a tense, tactical game taking 2-3 minutes, where your ability to get inside your opponent’s head is the path to victory. Gunfighter offers players the option to duel against human or computer opponents. The game is set in a rich, 3D environment but playable right from a web browser, so getting in to play for free is dirt simple.
“WildWestOnline: Gunfighter’s ability to draw an audience has proven there’s a large, unfulfilled desire for Western-themed games,” Butler continued. “Our game gives fans of the genre a chance to immerse themselves in a time when conflicts were settled – sometimes famously – with determination and loaded six-guns. Best of all, it’s a game that does not require massive time commitment. If you have a few spare minutes or need a short mental break from work, you can drop in and blow off some stress with a quick gunfight.

The game offers surprising depth as your Gunfighter gains experience. Play for any length of time and you soon realize that the acquisition of items and skills that improve your gun fighting ability provides endless opportunities to mold your persona and play style to match your personal temperament. It’s amazing how much one’s personality comes through in the way they fight, making this game incredibly fun when you know the person against whom you’re fighting.”
