KIRA KIRA POP PRINCESS BRINGS MUSIC, DANCE, FASHION, RHYTHM AND MUCH MORE TO THE DS

505 Games today announced that it will publish the music and rhythm game, Kira Kira Pop Princess, across Europe exclusively on Nintendo DS in February 2008.

Kira Kira Pop Princess is a music rhythm game that immerses the player in the world of Gaby as she learns the moods, styles and rhythms of Rainbow City, the city of fashion and music. Players guide Gaby through the many districts of Rainbow City as she dances her way ever closer to her dream of becoming as popular as Anna, the Rainbow City ‘Dance Queen’.

Rainbow City is built from many different districts, each with its own style and musical influences. In each, Gaby will meet a local girl who shares her dance passion and has a distinct fashion style and musical taste and by challenging and beating these locals in dance competitions, Gaby can unlock their fashion styles for her own wardrobe and dance on to new districts.

The gameplay in Kira Kira Pop Princess couldn’t be simpler. Once Gaby hits the dance floor players turn the DS vertically and use the touch screen and stylus to touch three coloured buttons in time with the beat. There are four moves to master with the stylus, including Single Touch, Single Slide left or right, Single Slide up or down and Continuous Slide left and right. Players will need to hit these moves on the coloured buttons, in time with the music, to keep Gaby dancing and build up their ‘Rainbow’ combos to beat their dance floor opponents.

Kira Kira Pop Princess allows players to customise their character with a huge range of new tops, skirts, shoes, hairstyles and accessories, all of which can be unlocked throughout the game by winning dance competitions across Rainbow City. Players will also be able to dress Gaby in their favourite fashion styles by collecting all parts of a particular look, whether it be hip-hop, gothic, school uniform or rock, to name but a few.

“Kira Kira Pop Princess is another quality handheld release from 505 Games for 2008,” commented Ian Howe, Managing Director, 505 Games. “The game perfectly captures all the elements of music, dance and fashion that young girls love and presents them in an accessible, entertaining and family friendly format.”

Kira Kira Pop Princess, developed by Dimple, will be published for the Nintendo DS by 505 Games in February 2008.

GREATEST GAME EVER ANNOUNCED FOR WII SHOP CHANNEL

Eagerly awaiting the arrival of Super Mario Galaxy next week? Can't get Mario out of your head? You and everybody else! To whet your appetite for all things Mario, Nintendo is offering a special treat on the Virtual Console this week. It's not just any game, it's Super Mario Bros. 3 – considered by many to be the greatest video game of all time (for at least one more week, anyway). It's a must-have title on a week that also features the first Virtual Console import title for Sega Genesis and a fun multiplayer golf game for TurboGrafx16.

Today Nintendo adds three new classic games to the popular Wii video game system's Wii Shop Channel. The games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the channel every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased via the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:

Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): Remember when no one had ever heard of a Tanooki Suit or knew that Bowser™ had a clan of Koopalings? The game that made these things common knowledge is also considered by many to be one of the best ever made. Bowser and the Koopalings are causing chaos yet again, but this time they're going beyond the Mushroom Kingdom into the seven worlds that neighbor it. Now Mario and Luigi™ must battle new enemies, returning favorites and a new Koopaling in each unique and distinctive world on their way to ultimately taking on Bowser himself. Luckily for the brothers, they have more power-ups available than ever before. Fly above the action using the Super Leaf, swim faster by donning the Frog Suit or defeat enemies using the Hammer Bros. Suit. Use the brand-new overworld map to take the chance to play a minigame in hopes of gaining extra lives or to find a Toad's House where you can pick up additional items. All this (and more) combines into one of gaming's most well-known and beloved titles—are you ready to experience gaming bliss?

Alien Soldier™ (Sega Genesis, 1 player, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older –Fantasy Violence, 900 Wii Points): As Epsilon-Eagle, you are an alien soldier who has been genetically engineered to produce maximum intelligence and strength. You were once a member of the criminal organization Scarlet, but when you decided to break from the group, you were forced into a showdown with Scarlet's new leader Xi-Tiger, who kills a hostage in his attempt to destroy you. Now it's up to you to take revenge against the bad guys in this side-scrolling action game! Choose from six different weapons and battle the bosses of Scarlet until you reach the final confrontation with the ultimate secret weapon!

Power Golf (TurboGrafx16, 1-3 players, Rated E for Everyone, 600 Wii Points): Power Golf sports a perfect combination of simple-yet-realistic controls and beautiful graphics. Swing away on 18 lush holes in one of three different game modes: the single-player STROKE PLAY mode and the multiplayer MATCH PLAY and COMPETITION modes. Enter tournaments as one of three different characters—beginner, intermediate and advanced. Wind strength and the slope of the green add extra challenges to each hole. Compete against other players in the standard NORMAL MATCH or ante up one of your clubs in the unique CLUB MATCH. Up to three players can play in COMPETITION mode, and a handicap feature is included to help novice players pull off breathtaking shots just like their advanced rivals.

Pub installs Virtual Snooker Hall

A London pub have announced plans to install a ‘Virtual Snooker Hall’, inspired by the Nintendo DS launch of World Snooker Championship Season 2007-08 game, released by Koch Media and available at all games retailers now.

Gordon McIntyre, landlord of the The Metropolitan (60 Great Western Road, W11), says he was inspired to bring back the pub snooker halls of old on a smaller scale, inspired by having played the addictive new DS title. Drinkers at the pub will be able to hire a DS with copy of the World Snooker Championship game from behind the bar, for a half-hour session to play against their friends or for a solitary game versus one of the world’s best professional players as featured in the game. The World Snooker Championship Virtual Snooker Hall will be featured at The Metropolitan from the 8th November, when the pub reopens after closure for refurbishment: As far as we are aware, this is the world’s first instance of a virtual snooker hall being installed anywhere!

“It’s a shame that these days there’s very few pubs with Snooker tables. Most London pubs couldn’t even fit a snooker table inside even if they wanted to. I played World Snooker Championship and thought this would be the ideal way to bring snooker back to pubs. And using the DS wand as a snooker cue makes it the next best thing!” – Gordon McIntyre, landlord of The Metropolitan

World Snooker Championship Season 2007-2008 has already caught the eye with a high profile ad campaign featuring snooker legend Steve Davis (who also features in the game, as does John Virgo on commentary duties), including a hilarious viral video that features the notoriously deadpan Davis relaxing on the sofa over a frame or two of World Championship Snooker. (The video can be seen at youtube)

Since its 1980s heyday as the UK’s most popular televised sport, Snooker has been a popular sporting genre for video games, yet has historically been restricted by how the player controls each shot. Home console joypads and computer mice have never quite achieved the level of interaction and accuracy promised by Nintendo's immensely popular DS handheld format with its dual touch screen and stylus.

Game Features:

· Choose one of best professional Snooker players, each with his own unique abilities based on real personal abilities

· Unlockable professional players to challenge even the most skilled snooker fan

· 9 official licensed Championship Events of a Snooker season, for example the Welsh Open, Grand Prix, UK Championship, Masters, China Open, World Championship and all the others

· A unique atmosphere through the novel commentary system 'Shot Watching' hosted by John Virgo

· Change between two distinct modes 'Challenge' and 'Championship' for mini games or a complete Snooker season

· The duel screen format of DS, it can display both the full 3D view of the action on one screen and a top down perspective on the other screen

NINTENDO'S BATTALION WARS 2

Wii Goes to War with 20 Missions and Online Play

This week's launch of Nintendo's new Battalion Wars 2 game for the Wii system lets players take complete command of soldiers and vehicles to help turn the tide of war and defeat the foes. In this sequel to the well-received original, players can connect with friends and opponents from all around the world using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, Nintendo's wireless gaming service. Players can battle head-to-head in the skirmish and assault modes or team up with another player in co-op mode.

Using the motion-sensitive Wii Remote and Nunchuk, Battalion Wars 2 lets players target enemies precisely while moving their characters through the field of battle. The game is an interesting hybrid of third-person action and real-time strategy games and features 20 single-player missions.

"Battalion Wars 2 promotes smarts over brute force," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Players are in complete control of what happens to them – and to their battalion – using the precision of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk."

Players can command a variety of vehicles, from tanks and helicopter gunships to battleships and submarines. But the real key to the game lies in the player's tactics. Players can rally their troops to attack a specific target or switch to take control of a vehicle to shoot down incoming fighter planes. As players progress through the game, new troops and new equipment – like tanks, bazookas and flame throwers – join the battalion. Players can then use these new elements in their arsenal to help reveal the true menace behind the war.

Remember that Wii features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other Wii features, visit Wii.com.
