hardy boys nintendo wii video game
The Hardy Boys: The Hidden Theft” is in development for Nintendo Wii. Players will face challenging puzzles and exciting dialogues embedded in a thrilling story, which is especially suitable for children! In The Hardy Boys: The Hidden Theft, the vault at Spencer Mansion is robbed, and the Bayport Police call on the Hardy Boys to help tie-up some loose ends, but they soon find themselves in the middle of a major criminal investigation that takes them on an adventure all over Bayport, and even into New York City. But the pieces don’t add up, and Frank and Joe find themselves embroiled in a drama of sinister proportions.

After their release on the PC, The Hardy Boys were able to obtain official awards including the “Ultimate Games Award 2008”, which focuses on pedagogical valuable games.

Also the BuPP, the “Federal Office for the Positive Assessment of Computer and Console Games”, situated at the Austrian Federal Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth, loves the game and awarded a recommendation to The Hardy Boys. “A recommendation of the BuPP stands for: it is most likely that children will have fun playing the game and parents have no reason to be worried but can furthermore trust that their children will benefit beyond the fun from playing. The Hardy Boys fulfill these criteria!”, states Herbert Rosenstingl, head of the BuPP.

With over 100 million copies of their beloved books in print, America’s original crime scene investigators, Frank and Joe Hardy, are riding a wave of classic retro popularity combined with a whole new attitude. Since 1928, Simon & Schuster and Grosset & Dunlap have published The Hardy Boys classic editions, currently selling over 1 million copies annually. The new contemporary series Hardy Boys: Undercover Brothers, featuring the boys as spies for American Teens Against Crime launched in 2005, with an additional Super Mystery published every summer.

Duel Master anime box set for Nintendo DSvision...

Here's a box set of the Duel Master anime.

The DSvision was a failed experiment, but it looks like Nintendo's keen to try and revive it. First you have to buy the DSvision adaptor, which is a regular DS cartridge with a mini-SD slot. Then you buy movies and such that slot in, or you can even download content with Nintendo Points.

Ju-on is nice and happy. The back of the box has a unicorn shooting rainbows out of its eyes. Higurashi's cover confuses me a tad. It's the third visual novel for the DS, based on a series known for its rather disturbing content. What with all the death and everything. Oh well. Two Fushigi Yuugi DS boxes, one game! It's a bit like Pokémon, but nothing like it at all.

Xbox LIVE VIP member benefits...

nintendo vip logo
According to internet rumours a new tier of Xbox Live membership is on the cards in the form of VIP membership which supposedly allows for a higher level of service. If true, then the current Silver and Gold memberships would no doubt be revised.

Apparently Xbox Live VIP subscribers will be able to get online storage for their content, extra matchmaking options, better connectivity and special invitation options to Silver subscribers.

What's also interesting to ponder is the suggestion that free online play like Sony's PSN could become standard. Rumours are rumours, but if there's some truth in all of this then we may possibly hear something at E3 09.

Over 100,000 pirate users cripple Demigod video game service

demigod pirates video game
Real-time strategy title Demigod has been crippled by over 100,000 pirates flooding the online game and overwhelming the support network, according to Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock, who complained of "near MMO user connections".

According to Wardell, 120,000 connections have taken place for Demigod, with only 18,000 coming from legitimate users who actually purchased the game. This "sheer number of people" has caused "horrific results" that the company was unprepared for.

"Sadly, most of the 120,000 connections are not customers but via warez," he wrote in his blog. "About 18,000 are legitimate… We spent a lot of time today trying to isolate out the warez users from the legitimate users."

Users found themselves unable to logon to the online service or the Demigod forums, and even running the game became a challenge as online checks for updated versions would result in a blank screen - Wardell described this as the "stuff of nightmares".

Wardell concluded: "As annoying as this issue is, it's not something that's going to be an ongoing issue, it's something that is likely to be taken care of in the next day or two. So this time next week, players will be happily playing."
