'Virtonomics' enters international market!
In June 2009 one of the most popular Russian Internet games rises to a new level and launches its English version. 'Virtonomics' is a massively multiplayer online business-strategy. For 2 years of its existence the project managed to join more than 400 000 users in Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Belorussia, Kazakhstan, Baltic States and other regions.
It is quite obvious now that 'Virtonomics' is no longer content with the simple status of a single-language server, and is absolutely ready to go beyond this limit. In addition to English, we are planning to enter Chinese and Arabic markets, expand audience by Spanish and Portuguese communities.
The reason of 'Virtonomics' successul development is its unique gameplay, which reconstructs in details the world of real economic and real business. The game is turn-based, which means that the user doesn't have to stay online all the time: visiting web-site once a day is enough. In this way 'Virtonomics' is more like a kind of advanced chess, than some classic online-game. 'Virtonomics' is a perfect business simulator, and with its help you can obtain a lot of specific skills in management, marketing, economic cooperation, business optimization, finance control, etc.
This is a browser-based game, so you don't have to download any files or install any software. You only need any kind of Internet connection and a web-browser to enter the exciting world of virtual business. First of all, there are no compulsory fees in 'Virtonomics', and that makes our game more attractive for the wide range of users. Besides, we are constantly expanding the borders of 'Virtonomics' world and create new countries, new goods and new production sectors.
All the possible industries of real economy are represented in the game: agriculture, mining, retail trade, scientific research and others. Each player is free to choose his own strategy: whether to build a complex holding and participate in severe market competition, or to carve an individual and original way. It doesn't matter which road will lead you to the top, the most important is not to forget about the final goal – establishment of your own profitable and successful business.
'Virtonomics' is not just a fascinating online-game, it is also a perfect training system. It might be very useful for the students of business schools and economic colleges, as well as for already graduated managers who want to know more about economic principles in practice and try themselves in various business situations.
'Virtonomics' provide unique advertising possibilities, since its audience is composed of people who are interested in economic, business and management. There are several kinds of advertising in our game: in addition to traditional product placement, context and banner ads, you can also try some special ways of brand integration. For example, your brand might be included in user competitions and auctions, or you can build a trade network on the basis of your own trade mark. 'Virtonomics' is a source of indispensable information for marketing and social studies; your unlimited ground for various advertising campaigns and advertising research.
Besides, 'Virtonomics' game community is of special value owing to business-oriented ideology of its members: it's very easy to find a reliable business partner, a high-skilled employee or a real employeer among 'Virtonomics' players. All you need is just become a part of it.
'Virtonomics' has proved its uniquness and originality by gaining thousands of fans in different countries, but we actually believe that this project is still in the very beginning of its long and bright way. We'll keep moving forward and hope that you'll join us in this virtual world of big business and big opportunities!

Crown of Glory: Emperor's Edition Gets a Major Update
Matrix Games (www.matrixgames.com) and Western Civilization Software (www.west-civ.com) are thrilled to announce the release of the first update for their hit Napoleonic strategic/tactical blend, Crown of Glory: Emperor’s Edition. The comprehensive 1.0.9 update comes with heaps of improvements and bug fixes in addition to two key new pieces of documentation: The Advanced Economy: Help and Advice for the New Player, and the Modder’s Guide.
As for the hefty list of bug fixes, the most notable item resolved is the mouse lag experienced by some in certain parts of the interface. In addition, the update includes improvements to the AI for both the strategic and tactical portions of the game, several significant improvements to the overall interface, and two dozen “fine tune” rule changes to enhance historical accuracy.
David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said “Crown of Glory: Emperor’s Edition is an absolutely must-have for any fans of the Napoleonic genre. The first Crown of Glory made a mark when it was released, but Emperor’s Edition takes us to a whole new level of Napoleonic strategy! If you tried the original Crown of Glory, there is still an upgrade discount available for the Emperor’s Edition. If you haven’t tried it, the stand-alone Emperor’s Edition is an excellent time to get on board and see if your inner Napoleon is up to the challenge.”
Two centuries ago, Europe was in the midst of one of the most gripping periods in human history. It was an era that saw cobblers become princes and emperors become exiles, an age of legendary diplomats and brilliant tacticians. Listen to the roll of the drum, the call of the bugle, and see the banners unfurled above the divisions and corps. Wide-eyed recruits march next to battle-scarred veterans, sabers clatter alongside the bags of grapeshot, the wheels of hundreds of caissons rattle, as generals plan and diplomats plot, and all of Europe grasps with desperate hands for… The Crown Of Glory.
This new Emperor’s Edition is a stand-alone sequel to the acclaimed Crown of Glory and improves on the original in every area, immersing the player in the epic events of the Napoleonic era. A beautiful strategic map with more than 200 provinces covers all of Europe and North Africa, with scenarios and campaigns from 1792 up to 1820. Stronger AI, a streamlined interface and a new simplified economic model to allow players to focus on the aspects of the game they most enjoy. Players take the role of one of the crowned potentates of any of the eight Major powers as well as having the option to play as a minor power such as Poland, Denmark or Portugal.
A turn-based structure allows you to play at your own pace, deciding on the military, diplomatic, economic and social paths of your nation, including treaties, trade routes and levying and supplying military units. While your armies march across a worldwide map with monthly turns, detailed land and naval battles allow you to play at a smaller scale, where your brigades, divisions and ships can be commanded with historical tactics. All battles can be resolved quickly or fought out on a detailed battlefield map.
The eight major powers (France, Britain, Austria, Prussia, Russia, Turkey, Spain, and Sweden) and over ninety computer-controlled minor nations are modeled in rich historical detail. Every effort has been made to bring you as thorough a simulation of the Napoleonic Era as is possible, from the dockyards of Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.
Historical leaders, special abilities, fleets, upgrades, reinforcements, colonialism, guard units and over 100 historical events, give Crown Of Glory: Emperor's Edition a unique and engrossing style. Combining Strategy and Tactics in one design, Crown Of Glory: Emperor's Edition offers you an opportunity to test your strength in an age of legends.
The update is comprehensive and will bring of all previous versions of Crown of Glory: Emperor’s Edition up to v1.0.9. Get more information on Crown of Glory: Emperor’s Edition from its official product page.

First Gameplay Video Released for Legio!
Mezmer Games today revealed more information regarding the upcoming title Legio, a turn-based strategy game for one to two players. The game is a unique mix between chess and a turn-based war game, and takes place in a mythical fantasy world where magicians, warriors and monsters battle for domination. Both players control an equal army of characters with the goal of eliminating the other player's army.
The new gameplay movie showcases one of the main characters of Legio, the King, lurking around at night until he runs into an opponent slightly out of his own league, the Giant. The movie also displays the prominent gameplay elements of Legio. Each game starts with players setting up the game board and placing their battle units in position. In the actual battle, you can see how the different units move around, attack, and eventually die - all of it being performed differently by different characters. The movie clip also shows the timing element when attacking an enemy.

Channel 4 announces unique new Strategy game!
It’s the most famous date in British history, but how might events have been different if you had been commanding the armies that fought for control of England? In a unique and historically accurate strategy game, accompanying a major Channel 4 series, BAFTA-award winners Preloaded encourage you to take the field with the Saxons, the Normans and the Vikings to fight out the visceral, dynamic battles which decided England’s fate.
The game puts you into the thick of the action, giving you direct control over every arrow barrage, cavalry charge and defensive stand taken by your armies. On-the-button mini-games add to the tension of issuing commands, and a striking visual style and dramatic animation deliver a distinctive portrayal of medieval warfare. A multiplayer option offers the chance to test your mettle against friends or other 1066 players. Rather than just relying on factual statistics, victory also depends on the morale of your troops, which played a crucial role on the eleventh-century battlefields. Taunts, chants and the presence of a strong leader will all prove key to winning the day.
Working hand-in-hand with the award-winning production company Hardy Pictures, the game accompanies a major new two-part Channel 4 drama which brings the battles of 1066 to life for the first time on film or TV. With direct access to period consultants, every aspect of the game is historically accurate, from the armaments and tactics to the insults that you can hurl across the battlefield. Echoing the exceptional production values of the TV show, the game tells its stories through vivid animations voiced by Oscar-nominated Sir Ian Holm, famous for his roles in Alien and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
The game balances this factual core with some fresh game design ideas, drawing on such acclaimed and varied titles as Advance Wars, WarioWare and Patapon. “We wanted to make a game that took all the sound and fury of these crucial historical battles, but made them as immediate and irresistible as the best modern games. What we found is that the more we drew on the history, the more we could create rich and dramatic gaming experience,” says Preloaded’s creative director Phil Stuart.
Filmed entirely on location in Yorkshire and Sussex, the Channel 4 Specialist Factual commission 1066 stars an international cast, including Mike Bailey (Skins), Francis Magee (Layer Cake), Søren Byder (Foyle's War) and Anthony Debaeck (Wolfman) and is written by Peter Harness (City of Vice, Is There Anybody There?). Director Justin Hardy has previously directed the award-winning The Great Plague, Trafalgar Battle Surgeon, Heist, and A Harlot’s Progress, as well as the genre-defining City of Vice and the BAFTA-nominated The Relief of Belsen.
