Electronic Arts agree to buy Codemasters games company

Electronic Arts announce it has agreed to buy Codemasters the UK-based game company. In the transaction, Codemasters' shareholders will be entitled to receive £6.04 (aboutS$7.98*) in cash for each ordinary share of Codemasters with an implied enterprise value of $1.2 billion*. The acquisition is anticipated to be completed in the first quarter of 2021.

The Board of Codemasters firmly believes the company would benefit from EA’s knowledge, resources and extensive global scale – both overall and specifically within the racing sector. Tickets for the Yorkshire Games Festival 2021 are on sale now for the 2021 Yorkshire Games Festival’s Game Talks. The talks will be returning for their fifth edition on 5 February 2021, with a packed programme featuring high-profile industry guests.

In order to provide a safe experience in line with Covid-19 guidelines, next year’s festival will look a little different to previous editions, with some events, including the ever popular Game Talks, moving online for audiences to enjoy from the comfort of their homes – so sweatpants are optional!

Firmly established as a high point of the festival, the impressive line-up of Game Talks will be hosted by festival friends Jordan Erica Webber (podcast host and presenter of The Gadget Show) and Keith Stuart (author and journalist for The Guardian).

Rocket League’s Season 2 will go live on December 9. The next season is a celebration of music that will introduce a new customisation option called Player Anthems, new songs and content from Grammy-nominated EDM artist Kaskade through a partnership with Monstercat, a new Rocket Pass, a new Arena, and more!

Rocket League Season 2 will feature:

• Player Anthems - This new customisation option will let players select and play Rocket League music in the Arena after scoring a goal. More information about Player Anthems will be revealed on the Rocket League website tomorrow.

Schools and colleges have another chance to take part in the ongoing British Esports Championships, a series of competitive video game tournaments for students aged 12+ across the UK with rising viewer numbers.

The British Esports Twitch channel has grown to more than 2,400 followers since broadcasts began in spring 2020, with more than half a million total views.
